Usually when a car does not turn over, as in starter motor fails to trn over engine, it is battery related, weak, so turn on your headlights and see if they are bright, then leave on and try to start engine, if lights dim, charge battery is first thing to do, then have battery checked, sure sign of battery going bad. Trans. fluid smell is probably a leak issue, so look under car for drips which sometimes hits exhaust which causes smell. Trans. fluid is rarely something you can smell other than when burning.

What are you saying is it broken or missing..
Their is a decail that covers the emmissions hose routing .
However there is always a trace of ware the hose was routed and connected look around the answers are their if you look at them fairly .

Given you did not indicate a decription of light on left side, we can only assume it is your check engine light which comes on for dozens of issues, some serious, some not so, but you need to have the codes pulled to point you in the right direction. You can try AutoZone auto parts store who will put diagnostic analyzer on your vehicle to identify problem, then you will know what you are dealing with, otherwise, it would be a guess at what is wrong. If it is check engine light, shape of engine is what most have, some will say check engine, but either way, this is the most common light on left sife of dashboards. First thing to check is your gas cap, if it was left off after driving, or loose, it will trigger check engine light, and if so, tighten, check seal which tends to dry out, you should be able to see this which is 90% of reasons light comes on. Do you have floor console shifter ?
Shift Interlock System A brake/shifter interlock system consists of the following:
  • ignition switch (11572)
  • brake pedal stoplight switch (13480)
  • brake shift interlock module
  • brake shift interlock solenoid assembly (attached to key interlock assembly)
  • necessary wiring
On floor-shift vehicles, the ignition/shifter interlock cable (3F719):
  • locks the floor shift transaxle range selector lever in the PARK position when the ignition switch is in the LOCK position.
  • requires the floor shift transaxle range selector lever to be in the PARK position to turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.

If it is liquid gas, you likely have a hard fuel system fault pouring liquid gas into the engine unrestricted. This frequently is caused on older vehicles by things like fuel pressure regulator failures, injector or computer injector driver failures, or sometimes computer faults related to fuel control improperly stuck in lean mode so the computer thinks there isnt enough gas in the engine, and adds fuel till the sensors see the ratio is correct. But if the sensors that would tell it when it reaches correct amount are stuck or broken, it will add fuel sometimes nearly forever till it starts liquifying the exhaust (Seen a Toyota with a bad O2 sensor hit 13.3% CO from a bad pair of O2 sensors. For comparison, normal CO is 0.5% or less. it had 25x normal fuel enrichment amount!)

Basically its ridiculously dangerous. Dont drive the car like that, tow it to service or fix it. It can catch fire, choke passengers on HC fumes, it can hydralock the engine and cause it to blow or severely damage internal parts, it can destroy o2 sensors and catalytic converters and mufflers. If the fumes collect and ignite from sparks or heat, it can detonate like a grenade! Usually not enough to injure passengers, but you dont wanna find out, and even if it stays underneath in the exhaust it can blow the catalytic converter or muffler to kingdom come...and both are expensive to fix especially when it can be prevented, Seek service immediately. They need to check for mechanical fuel issues (leaking injector, stuck injector, leaking fuel pressure regulator) or excessive fuel trims (System is at +25 long and short term trims despite the fact its actually got too much gas already...computer thinks it needs more. The computer is likely very wrong!

Because the engine has an over-rich condition that is causing liquid fuel to pass completely thru the engine and get pumped out the exhaust. This is an extremely dangerous condition for many reasons.
1 - leaking fuel in a usually hot exhaust system can ignite, explode its fumes under the vehicle, or subject passengers to hydrocarbon fumes,
2 - if enough fuel is in the exhaust to leak oiut a muffler...and it came thru the engine, there is a distinct possibility of internal engine damage occurring at any time. The pistons normally compress a mixture that is more than 85% air. Air is compressible (meaning you can make it physically smaller by squeezing it at great pressure). Liquids by their nature ARE ABSOLUTELY NOT COMPRESSIBLE!!

What this means is if you have a leaking fuel pressure regulator (kinda common on older ones) or leaking/stuck injectors (less common but still happens) or simply a defective fuel control system that is commanding ridiculous amounts of fuel (rare!), if it exceeds the compressible space in the cylinder for incompressible fuel volume,,,something will break or bend and quite possibly destroy the engine.

3 - if you have enough gas to flow liquid out the exhaust, you are at the very least damaging the catalytic converter which can run hundreds to even a couple of thousand dollars to replace. Further, your mileage is AWFUL right now because despite what people think, cars run on very small volumes of fuel. as in an eyedropperfull per rpm. Now imagine 100x normal fuel useage. Thats probably what you have to have it leak out a muffler. Think prevention, in addition to destroying the engine, it kills mileage, performance, detsroys cats and O2s, rings, seals, valves, sometymes purge systems or pcv systems. It should be repaired asap to prevent more costs si\oon.

Check the front brake rotor. When the brake pads wear down too far they will make a grinding noise. I am not sure what sound the axle makes when they begin to wear out. I would check the boot that covers the axle joint for any damage.

Yes - the fast flashing is a warning that a bulb is burned out. Change the bulb (be careful to put it in the same as the old one as it probably is 2 bulbs in one , parking and turn/stop) and you should be fine.

on ataurs with a duratec the thermostat is on the bottom radhose underneath the car. you will see a little housing near the radiator underneath the vehicle. they are a bit of a pain to get at

does it bark a lot just kidding I think you mean dodgy but I still have to guess what you mean by that I know these cars very well so lets see do you mean that your going uphill and the car loses engine power? your stepping on the gas but it's hard to make it up hills Yes/No? or do you mean that it's a loss of electrical power and the car dies out Yes/No? I'm going to go with the first one the check engine light is on and was/or is the engine running rough/shaking at the stop sign/traffic if so has the car been tuned up recently ? you see there's a lot of info missing here the best thing to do is go to auto zone & ask the parts person to check your trouble codes with a scanner they will do it for free this will tell you what's gone wrong with engine performance & they will tell you how much for parts only if you need a mechanic to work on your car go there and show him the scan reports of the codes listed
