You did not say what your ability level is for working on cars.. So i will be very basic . Please do not take offense. The first thing you want to look at is the battery and how the battery cables are attached to it, are they clean and tight ? If not remove them and clean and reattach tightly. Next you need to know what the voltage is in the battery. I would try jumping the car with battery cables from another vechicle.. if it turns over battery is probably dead, Another way is to use a volt meter and check the voltage of the battery it should be between 12 and 13 volts. If you do not have a volt meter they are available from Harbor Freight Tools for about $5-$6 a very good deal. If the battery does have the correct voltage the problem is further into the electrical systen. Next check all the fuses.. Look in your owners manual for the location of the fuse boxes.. It may have more than one location. On the newer cars there is a main power fuse which is uaually located under a black plastic cover near the battery and has large fuses in it.. If all the fuses are good and the battery has correct voltage then it could be your ign switch.. the electrical part of the switch is located on the steering column on the back of where you put in the key. you must remove the covers on the steering column to get at it.. actually a pretty easy job. The last one of these switchis i replaced i purchased from NAPA Auto parts. Although i buy a lot of parts from Rockauto.com because their service is so good really economical and they really deliver fast. If you are going to work on your own car i suggest you get a copy of the Chilton Manuaal for your car. Available from Rock Auto, any parts store, and possibly at your local library for free. Post a response and let us know what you find.

The only thing which can cause white smoke is steam, and given radiator is in front, may be a small hole due to road pebble penetrating radiator core. Keep eye on water level and engine temperature as you don't want to run and overheat engine ever.

Air filter. Clean the throttle body, mass air flow sensor and the idle air control motor. This should take care of your problem.

It is probably a hose and all you have to do is add some water and see where it comes out. Another possibility is the water pump seal.

That's best left to the professionals unless you're real handy with tools and have a garage to pull the car into. Sometimes the ground wire on the fuel gauge sending unit goes bad and has to be re-grounded, Most of the time, I have found the level float on the fuel pump assembly goes bad and the whole thing has to be removed from the gas tank. If you're lucky, there is an access panel through the trunk or underneath the back seats so the fuel pump can be removed. If your car doesn't have these then you'll have to drop the gas tank to remove the pump assembly. Obviously either way, run the gas tank down close to empty before attempting to remove the pump assembly, and no smoking open flames and try not to cause sparks when using wrenches or other tools...wouldn't want you going BOOM!!!

Are you really adding plain water? Plain water will not be sufficient. You will have to use 50/50 antifreeze

ARE YOU SURE THERE'S A THERMOSTAT IN THERE ? AND IS IT FACING THE RIGHT WAY IF IT'S BACKWARDS IT WON'T OPEN, DO YOU SMELL ANTIFREEZE IN THE EXHAUST STEAM THAT YOU SEE IF NOT AND YOU HAVE GOOD HEAT CHECK THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR/ OR THE CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSORS MAKE SURE THEY ARE PLUGGED IN IS THE ENGINE RUNNING ROUGH AND POSSIBLY LOOSING POWER WHEN YOU ACCELERATE IF NOT AND NO HEAT THE HEATER CORE COULD BE CLOGGED AND IF YOU DO SMELL IT IN THE EXHAUST IT COULD BE SLIGHTLY LEAKING THROUGH THE INTAKE GASKET BECAUSE OF THE INCREASED PRESSURE OF NOT BEING ABLE TO FLOW THROUGH THE CORE ? COULD BE A BAD OR NOT INSTALLED RIGHT TIMING CHAIN ? ARE THE CATALYIC CONVERTORS GOOD HERE'S SOME PHOTO'S OF THE SENSORS IN CASE YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY LOOK LIKE AND PLEASE POST BACK WITH PROGRESS MADE AND THINGS THAT HAVE BEEN ELIMINATED IN THE PROCESS PLEASE BE SPECIFIC ABOUT WHAT WAS DONE

THE TOP IS THE CRANK SHAFT BOTTOM IS THE CAMSHAFT THESE TWO IF NOT FUNCTIONING RIGHT WILL MAKE A MOTOR RUN HOTTER BUT THE GAUGE MIGHT NOT PICK IT UP AS MUCH UNLESS IT'S TOTALLY BLOWN MAYBE THE PLUGS ARE DIRTY TO TRY CLEANING THEM IF OIL IS LEAKING IN IT'S SHORTING OUT THE CONNECTOR OR THE SENSOR GOOD LUCK STEPHEN

the first thing is this was exactly the same before/and then after you changed the calipers, pads, rotors, you have any anti rattle clips installed properly? most likely you do if you did the work your self or did someone else do it?, but if all this was done correctly and you are having the problem only on the drivers side(a) there could be air in the brake line.(b) if the abs light is on/off the abs unit can be malfunctioning(c) if it's only one wheel you could have a kinked/bent/or twisted brake line (d) a broken wheel sensor on that side can be shorted out (e)the wheel hub bearings could be bad on that side and the hub is now angled instead of straight and exhibiting excess play and rumbling noise coming from that wheel can you drive the car or is it resisting when you step on the gas/or if rumbling noise it gets louder as you drive faster but you don't smell burning brakes/or you do smell it but its only the smell no resistance if so the wheel hub is n/g(take tire and brake assembly off the car with the rotor and push and pull on the hub if you feel it moving more than a slight bit this is your problem and you are being confused by the rumbling of the bearings noise thinking that the caliper is sticking but it's not and also check the right side it can be the one but the vibration is so bad that you think it's the driver side / if you have checked all of the things I have list here and still have the same problem (f) go to the abs unit and unplug it look into the connector for dirt/ corrosion clean it with spray and leave unplugged try to drive the car if it still happens plug it back in and (g)if you have traction control go to the hydraulic control unit do the same thing if it stops the unit is n/g and it's applying hydraulic pressure to that wheel I'm including pictures of these units just in case

but remember if you don't smell burning brake pads and there is no holding back resistance and the noise happened all of a sudden if you remember this is the problem that I think your having the wheel hub bearings are no good and you will feel it moving back and forth if you don't it could still be dried up inside no grease causing the rumble you can get on for under $50. at auto zone rock auto has them for $25.00 but they have to be shipped if you can wait about 3 days and if you do replace this do both sides the other one will soon go to because these are sealed units and grease for life they can be taken apart and greased but you really have to be careful not to damage the seals and it's just easier to replace them good luck STEPHEN

of course it possible to access this retractor , you just need to locate the small round circles in the lower part of trim and gently pry the covers off , screws will be evedent , you will need a 6 mm star (five sided) drive socket wrench to remove the retractor though

Napa or just about any brand of Ant-Freeze will work.

2000 Ford Taurus | Answered on Feb 02, 2015

This can be done by using a small clamp and wood block and taking off the door panel to install these things. But fixing it correctly is better.
