skim lamp come on>?
what engine is there, we cant guess engines yet,
and that is what stalled the engine
there are over 50 causes. a fact. !!!
we do 1 to 10 tests and bingo
do you want guessing or testing.
1: is the ASD relay dropping out at the instant of the stall.
only a scan too can tell you that live.,
2: can you save said stall , as it happens with happy right foot actions?/????????

Check the IAC (idle air control) if its plugged or dirty clean the port with carb cleaner you can find it on the intake under the resonator box its the bottom one the top is the TPS which could also be bad.

specify which engine it has as well v8 or the 6 because it could be a PCV valve on the oil chute

funny electric sound maybe lock actuator moving-actuator lock rod may have broke or the clip disconnected need to remove doors panel to to service and or repair

2001 no engine stated. sad.
welcome to computer shifted gear box.
its called a TCM
it does all shifting
so scan the PCM and see why
you cant fix modern cars lacking a scan tool

the engine is misfiring, has 50 causes.
it not the transmission
transmissions can only shift up if the engine makes full power.
it's not making full power, fix the engine, EFI
scan it. ok?



we have posted misfire posts here 100s of time's in fact its endless..
short list.
full tuneup done.
engine gets to 180f and not running cold all the time, scan it to see that. (data scans)

ECT reads 180f.? good or above. and holds
ECT reads low but thermal gun shows say 180f
oops ECT is bad.

no DTC errors stored?, I bet there are.
4.0L coil pack bad?
sparks are new you said.
fuel pressure way too high.?

to scan it , drive to driving cycles.
many errors are not reported with just one drive cycle.
Misfire, errors, DTC P030x , takes 2 full driving cycles , cold to hot engine, and more rules, read misfire, monitor rules in SM.


The engine light starts flashing

that means the EFI system detects gross misfiring
the flashing part means, if you read the opr guide, or SM
that its my damage the CAT converter, due to overheating, it.
it says, there, drive easy to service shop.

the lamp also means and proves the errors
are there stored in the ECU memory called DTC errors.

but if you keep doing driving cycles, they can clear , causes this evidence to erase.
fools many folks this auto clear features.

owning a real scan tool avoids all this , dancing about.

2001 grand cherokee?
nor years of all parts swapped.
swaps are super complex topics, endless possibles.

dont expect magic from any TCM.
they cant tell you ever possible way things can be wrong
it will fail to shift right if things are wrong,
the trans TCM can go to limphome mode, read the service manual chapter 21 yet its free, posted here 300 times.
forget the silly engine , light (CEL) use only a scan tool one that can read all factory codes not some $20 tool.
CEL lamp is for failing smog. only. never trust it, if out.

i say bad shift solinoids.
the TCM can see late shift error.s but maybe not all.
stick in 1st is a hard failure.
all inputs to the TCM must be correct for the shift to 2nd happens.
check all inputs.
if those are then see if the TCM did shift to 2nd, but the solenoids ignored the logic inputs to the solenoids.
solenoids have many failure mods
dead. (stuck closed)
stuck open, valve open.
or leaking. (leaking can cause stuck in 1st and confuse any TCM)

leaking means breached, valve leaks where it must not. ever.

no scan tool brand stated, nor model
it MUST be J1850 VPW certified(jeep PCI bus)
and type, my scan tool is dead,and car runs like crud. (tells all we need to know)
OK BIG PROBLEMS
all easy to discover , with a voltmeter,
ever heard of that?
error1, park lockout is law,,and needs working brake lamps
to shift out of park .. (usa cars, on a usa forum)
seem like the fuse to the cluster are bad.
are you blowing lots of fuse/?
battery pull and you forget that PCM needs to relearn idle.
so.... that was normal
before working on any complex car, read the service manual first
not make blunders.? there some that can be tragic.
your dealer SUX,!
if comm fail,i it can be fuse on pin 16 of DLC connector (scan port)is blown
if pin 16 is hot,12vdc
then the comm buss is shorted
a real TECh unplugs all comm buss,(CCD,PCI) modules 1 by 1
to find how WHO is shorting the buss out.

in real computer this is well known,many shops never took the class on networking,find a real ASE shop
that knows jeeps, and networks
his $800 blind guess, sux

IF you scan tool plugs in and works
you'd have seen if he Immbolizer as tripping.
with codes just for it, bad key ,bad skim module
he ASD relays drops and engine is stalled on purpose buy the PCM

the ASD drops for 7 reason or more (ONE IS CMP OTHER IS CKP AND MORE) NO NEED TO GUESS.
and the PCM ALWAYS TELLS YOU WHY!

2:comm still fail, one of 22 modules, shorting PCI network

why not scan to pcm and see all those TCM errors
P07xxx,DTC errors
you can NOT fix moderns nor complex a/t trans
lacking as scan too
hard cold facts.

not fun to watch,either

if gas engine, ?
I bet never tuned-up up in decade,right?> that gets 99% here.
but it can be far more complex, not guessing,,
what if , the ECT reads wrong.
and the PCM thinks you are in ALASKA,and you are in key west,FL..
so,it floods cranked. and cold running,same...

all EFI cars do that ,everyone, like that.'

forget heater (that blow'r motor sucks 15amps and alternator puts that load on the engine, breaking the CAMELS back, for get that
fix MISFIRE COLD that is the problem.!! real.

and new spark plugs top that list????
a rich engine needs more spark, and on HILLS

and scanning the ECT.
does ECT read correctly first thing in morning before starting engine
yes ECT can be scanned keyon, not started.

correct means if last night was 40f, the ECT is 50f in morning
or lower. say 41f.
-20f wrong, 0f wrong , got that? not blow average of last nights
ambient air temps or garage temps parked. there.
the air cleaner can be packed.up
the ISC valve stuck (my 4.0L did that ever 10k miles)most of the cured in 90s with better ISC
leaking injectr.
misfiring cold
and more
best is a tuneup ,pray, and work form there.
doing tests.

you used voltmeter at the pump?> or just didnt here it run
do say this...please. details, matter....
it told you low fuel is it? is the fuel gauge near "E"
why not state that first.?
dead gauges, be 1st right, smacks of gross power loss.
right>? not clear to me what no gauges means.
but the voltmeter is #1 no?

did you tests fuse that look ok. fuse that look ok can be bad.
no gauges, means all dead, no movement,
well the fuel gauge must work , does it, does it match reality?
cranks but never runs. good input there.

does not run for the jeep 3 seconds.? (ASD rules)
no 12vdc power to pump, when cranking,?
01 grand WJ jeep usa.
is the skim lamp off, the cluster lamp for SKIM security is first.
it must go out after key turn on, or it will never run, ever.
I can help.

this jeep has a voltage gauge, it must read 12v keyon
if not power is lost, or battery low.
if cranks that tells me the fues blew.
skim cuts spark and fuel, not cranking btw.

see that lamp 12, if stuck on car will never start but will crank.
the lamp falses if skim is not working or stays on for ******* key.
we SCAN ALL CARS NOW.
IF You can not scan a modern jeep then it can near impossible to diagnose (a hard cold fact)
IF the ASD fails to work, the PCM tells you every time
all 8 ways for it to fail.
but that takes a scan tool (any modern scanner works,)

most possible changes will be in the wiring harness and ECM settings
you can do the changes and see exactly what the performance differences will be
contact your service centre and discuss any foreseeable problems

HVAC failure
the car has 2 classes of HVAC< manual and ATC
the blower must blow on high.??? does it on high?
if not, check fuses, for blower. (if lower speeds only fail say so)
the blower is dead,
then say if dash controls are Manual or ATC<
atc = automatic temp,controls with a dash thermostat et cetra.

the diagnostic path is different.
the ATC has self test too. .with over 30 errors possible.

it sets and resets its self.
why not post.
country car resides
then post what are the symptoms first.
is the car immobilized?
is the immo lamp glowing or flashing
did you scan the PCM to see IMMO errors, or more?

there are a huge list of possible symptoms here.
and cures.
not one problem stated, just a useless Easter egg hunt. is this fun?
to get good help start by stating whats wrong.
then ask how to diagnose complex issues, stated.

No bus means the bus is not operating properly. It means no communication between the modules inside your jeep. All modules inside the jeep (A/C control, radio, onboard computer or trip computer, body control, etc) communicate with each other by means of a wire called bus. Check that wire.

my guess it cranks ok.
fuses ok
immobilizer not active, SKIS/SKIM.?
so compression is at spec.
and if it is ,test fuel diesel works?????
Glow plugs work? (we measure current)
then filters
then pump
scan pcm for errors, not all errors glow the silly CEL lamp.
