1998 dodge stratus stalls while driving if gas tank is half empty

You need to check fuel pressure carefully. This happens when tank is so full of dirt that the pump screen gets clogged. After sitting down several minutes, some of the dirt settles and the car can be restarted, but happens again. Refrain from starting to change every sensor without knowing what is the real cause, because you could be thowing money and not fixing it. Aldo check pressure regulator is functioning correctly. I don't see an SE and not sure what you mean by "disconnect" but you can disconnect it electrically at the instrument panel fuse panel by removing the 5A RADIO fuse and the 10A ROOM fuse or by disconnecting the connectors on the rear of the radio

98 ford escort se P0171 error code

Jeff Lindsey I have a 98 ford escort zx2 that had that same CEL (Check Engine Light) come one... Here is what it ended up being with mine I would go to your local parts store like auto zone or Napa Auto parts and purchase the Oxygen sensor, an oxygen sensor socket and the location of the sensor that you need to replace if you have the 2.0L DOHC engine like I have is on the front of the engine located just below the manifold cover you have to remove the fan cover from the radiator, remove the intake manifold cover its a little aluminum shield and then you will see the oxygen sensor

I strongly suggest to do this when the car is not hot. Just be careful to not burn yourself on the cover.

Its a very easy task to do. I did it on mine.

parts cost about 60 dollars or something like that socket was like 7 dollars and a normal 3/8 drive ratchet and a normal socket, also maybe a wrench set if you would like.

hope that helps.

1998 ford escort has full power , stalled at intersection and now wont start, any ideas

might have a fuel filter problem or a fuel pump problem meaning the filter might be clogged or the fuel pump in the gas tank is not pumping check ur fuse box there is a fuse for the fuel pump in there if it if blown replace and then turn car over again. if its ok then it still could be a fuel pump problem check the fuel filter located by the gas tank under the car or take to a local mechanic if u do not want to do it ur self. fuel filter is easy to change very easy.a fuel pump on most cars the gas tank as to be dropped.

My 1998 Ford Escort SE is stalling sometimes at highway speeds when I let off the gas. Starts right back, but concerned will get worse. What could be the cause? Sometimes does not do this for days and...

IAC (Idle Air Control Solenoid) Located on the throttle body, I would start by checking that out. Sometimes they can carbon up pretty bad and cause your issue.

Car shuts down when gas falls below half a tank.It will restart but only after cranking it several, several times

your float sensor is bad, you need to replace it. U can find it in your gas tank with the fuel pump. The float is probably broke and has gas inside of it .
