Question about 1989 Lincoln Mark VII
Transmission won't shift into overdrive. Problem started when I manually shifted from overdrive to drive in pass manuever on an interstate hwy. I was doing appx 55-65 mph when I downshifted, and shifted back to OD the transmission slipped and engine rpm flared. Ever since that day, I drive with shifter in Drive position because in the OD position the transmission slips when it shifts into OD ( at appx 45 mph @ low throttle ). Trans has no other symtoms or issues and fluid level ok. Is this a common problem with Ford transmissions? Any feedback would be appreciated, thank you
You may have damaged the overdrive gear, a local transmission shop would be your best bet. for good troubleshoting and estimate.
