1987 mercedes sl 560. car stored for winter months in unheated garage in cold canada.car started easily, after several seconds it would stall.almost like ignition switch was turned off. would run ok on a fast rpm. also the tachometer stopped working. any help would be appreciated. thanks barry
Check fuses (for tachometer), fuel pump and blew through injectors: they can have some residue ice from gasoline

Ihave the same experience try to remove the idle jet located next to the starting jet. But be careful in removing it as it will break easily ( you will need a flat screwdiver to do it ) clean it with a wire that closest size of the jet. change your fuel filter ang drain all the fuel inside before putting it back. make sure to put some air pressure on each holes on the carb so it flush all unwanted particles inside and pls dont use silicone in sealing the rubbers inside.

I had a similar problem. I found the filter cartridge below the pcv valve had carboned up, and after the crank case pressurized, oil was forced out the pcv supply line to the throttle body. The idle air control valve solenoid got oil in it and caused my problem, but only when it was cold. The pcv cartridge is accessed by removing the pcv valve and the rubber fitting that the pcv valve mounts in. It can then be fished out with a pick set, and it is a pain because you can't see it, but you can get you hand back there. I hope this helps you.

Check for vacuum leaks. Also try cleaning the ISV.
If that doesnt work go to vwvortex.com and post your issue there
