Check for corrosion at the cables and power distribution box nothing all all is pointing in this direction and also at a bad alternator if you jumped whatever car this is none given and ran it then you shut it off and no start after it's a cable problem if it died while it was running it's the alternator so now fully charged battery and your sure it held that charge then the connector at the power distribution box is corroded or broken because you say nothing else works and everything else gets power from distribution box so I tried to give you all possible causes

Pull the battery and have a parts store check it to see if it has a bad cell or two. It is possible that even though you charged it, the battery just won't work for you. Hope that helps.

SOURCE: engine won't run properly then dies and won't start without charge

Sounds like your alternator is shot. Remove your alternator and take it into Advance Auto Parts store and they can do a test on it. Don't waste any more money on batteries until you get this checked.

Also, don't be fooled by some sellers. A rebuilt alternator is just as good as a new one.

SOURCE: car wont start, acts like

Check the battery +12v power connection to the starter is in good order,
Check the ground connection between the battery negative and the engine/starter motor is robust and intact.
If no problem with above, replace the starter motor.

2000 Ford Ranger battery died. Got jump started. Now won't start - nothing - click no hums, no nothing. And horn sounds very sad & sick. Already re-programmed the key, checked all fuses, fuel re-set toggle...

If the horn sounds sick then either one horn has stopped working or your battery is bad. To test a battery properly it needs to be tested under load to determine the internal resistance. If the internal resistance it too high the voltage drops rapidly when power is being used. The voltage should be at 14.4 volts or so when under load (eg headlights on etc) Of course when the starter is powered the voltage will drop alot. If the battery is perfect, and the battery cables are spotless then you must have some fuseable links melted. They would be along the cable leading from the positive side of the battery to the firewall.

92 Toyota 4runner truck was running perfectly fine Later in the day went to start and the alarm just started going off and wouldn't turn off. Truck won't start even with keys turned in igniti

The alarm system somehow got activated , this is usually because the battery becomes discharged or disconnected try doing this:
Remove the key from the ignition
disconnect the negative battery terminal
put the key back in and turn to ON
exit the truck and leave door open
reconnect the battery terminal
get in and leave door open, if the alarm horn stays off it should start.

My 2000 lincoln ls doesn't crank or click when trying to start it, it does nothing? all the lights work, radio, signals and horn, I checked the fuel relay and the starter relay and the ignition fu

Sounds like an Ignition Module or similar device. Does it have an alarm? Turn the key to ON - not start - and put into Drive and then back into Park. It may be the shifter isn't fully engaged. Also, w/your FOOT ON THE BRAKE shift to Neutral and try to start it.

I have a 1999 passat 2.8 it wont start by using the jey but u can jump the starter and it will turn over and start. i changed the ignition switch and it still wont start with a key ive noticed i dont have...

i would check your fuses because the lights and horn are most of the time on the same fuse but it sounds like you may have a cut wire to the starter youll have to trace the wire and check it

this is due to battery problem.
the horn can work even in low voltage but for starting you require more voltage.may be when recharged your battery it has not been fully charged so try recharging it fully or replace it with new battery and check it wil start.

1991 Toyota Camry Won't crank, dash dead, no lights

I HAD SAME PROBLEM SOLVER OF MY MOMS 1996 CAMRY ABOUT HORN GOING OFF AND CAR WOULDN'T CRANK. JUMPED IT OFF AFTER A FEWW FRANTIC MOMENTS OF HORN HONKING-- FOUND OU IT WAS AN ALARM THING AND YOU CAN SHUT IT OFF BY TURNING IGNITION KEY TO ON POSITION AND MOVING TOGGLE SWITCH AT DRIVER KICK PANEL TO OVERIDE THE HONKING HORN PROBLEM--STILL NOT SURE WHAT CAUSED IT TO DO THIS AT BEGINNING. BATTERY WAS FULLY CHARGED AND HEADLIGHTS REAL BRIGHT TOO. COULD HAVE BEEN A DOORLOCK MANUAL MALFUNCTION--BEEN OK FOR A WEEK NOW.

Changed alternator now no horn locks int. lights wipers etc

You probably popped a main fuse somewhere. Check all fuses under hood & dash. Try removing battery cables for a minute or so, in case of resetting breaker involved, just in case.
