The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) detects the engine operating and driving conditions, along with the exhaust gas oxygen content. Various switches, sensors and components provide the PCM with information which allows it to control the air/fuel ratio (mixture), emissions and drivability.

To get to the PCM you would have to remove the parking brake and shift consoles and then the gearshift knob and and boot...I know, GREAT place to put a part needing to be serviced!

PCM Powertrain Control Module
Normally located in the passengers floorboard outside kick panel (near the fender)

PCM stands for Powertrain Control Module [aka engine computer] It is located in the lower/center of the dash assembly, just forward of the center console. You have to remove the center console to access it.

I have ford escort 1.4i year 1997 I have change crank senson and ignition coil and can sensor and ignition control module but don't want to spark what is the problem what else I have to check

This vehicle doesn't have ignition control module ! The PCM - engine computer controls the coils . Also 1997 escort came with a 2.0 L engine . Not 1.4 . Testing an not guessing is the way to a proper fix. Your best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop .

Does this car have an interference motor?

ford escort/ focus engine 2.0 l spi sohc 1997-2004 has been identified as an intereference engine and that means very likely valve to piston damage
( auto data timing belt information )
note-- up to 2002 year Ford has not recommended a timing belt interval for changing
Ford has however recommended a replacement every 120.000 miles using the service history as a guide
however good professional trade practice recommends every 60.000 miles ( 100.00klms) and the replacement work should include replacement of the crank and cam shaft seals and idler pulleys involved ( the biggest destroyer of belts is oil)
recommended labor time is 2 hours
if the belt has broken then head removal and valve work will add up to 5 hours to that time

Where is is sensor switch located on 2001 ford escort zx2

It 's not the sensor. When they fail the PCM goes to default mode and turns the fan on with the engine on. Your problem is a fuse/s, wiring, relay, resistor, or the fan is dead.

What is a pcm on a 2.0 ford escort engine

Power-train Control Module

It is located under the stereo. Remove the center console (if it is a manual transmission, you'll need to unscrew the shift knob) and you'll be able to see a thick wire harness going under the stereo. There is a single 10mm bolt holding the harness to the PCM. Loosen this bolt (don't take it all the way out yet) and then use the harness to pull the PCM out far enough that you can grab it with your hands. Loosen the bolt all the way and pull the harness from the PCM and then pull the PCM out. On top of the PCM is the code, three letters and one number. You don't have to use the exact same code to replace this PCM, as long as you get it from the same "half-year" car. Before 1999.5 the cars used a 4-wire mass-air-sensor, after 1999.5 they used a 6-wire mass-air-sensor. You can safely use any PCM from 2000 and up as long as you get it from a matching transmission donor.

Location of engine coolant temperature sensor

Automobiles: 2000 Ford Escort ZX2 4-cylinder 2.0L MFI DOHC

NOTE
The "left" side of the engine is the driver's side.

The Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor is a thermistor (a device which changes resistance or voltage as temperature changes). The sensor detects the temperature of engine coolant and provides a corresponding signal to the PCM (Powertrain Control Module - aka "the car's computer").

The ECT sensor is mounted in the following locations (small Ford engines):

1.8L engines: in the cylinder head
1.9L engines: threaded into the heater hose inlet pipe
2.0L engines: at the left rear of the engine

2.0L Zetec Engine

(1) Partially drain the engine cooling system using a clean container. If coolant is in good condition, retain for reuse.
(2) Disconnect the battery ground cable.
(3) Disconnect the electrical wiring connector from the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor.
(4) Remove the retaining clip and the ECT sensor.

12_5_2011_5_38_05_pm.jpg

Fig. 1 Escort ZX2 ECT sensor - The retaining clip is removed (at the solid arrow). Withdraw ECT sensor by gently wiggling/pulling in the direction of the dashed arrow.

To install:

NOTE
Coat the ECT sensor O-ring with clean coolant prior to installation.

(1) Replace the retaining clip and the ECT sensor.
(2) Connect the electrical wiring connector from the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor.
(3) Connect the battery ground cable.
(4) Refill the engine cooling system. An inexpensive plastic "Radiator Funnel" will help with this task.

Trouble code p0118 for a 1999 ford escort se , engine coolant temperature circuit high input

This may caused by bad connection at the sensor, short in the voltage feed between the sensor and the PCM, bad PCM, open in the ground circuit between the ECT sensor and the PCM, bad temperature sensor.

Power source for ecm and destination of efi fuse for ford mondeo 2.0 16v mk 1 zetec south african make and a pin layout of ecm

Hello! The ZETEC engine was used in the 1999 Ford Escort...I do not know what year your vehicle is, however the pin layouts are the same...

The Fuel Injector Fuse (30A) feeds the injectors via normally open contacts of the PCM Power Relay on a Red/White wire (which becomes Red at the injectors) on pin #12 of the Constant Control Module...
The wire colors of injector control leads (at the injectors) are..#3=Brown/Yellow...#1=Tan...#4=Brown/Light Blue...And #2=White

Wire colors at the PCM plug are...#3=Brown/White (pin 74)...#1=Yellow (pin 75...#4=Green/Orange (pin100)...and #2=Violet/Yellow (pin 103)...

Size restrictions on attachments do not allow me to send the entire PCM...aka...ECM pin layout to you...

Where is the ignition module control located on 1996 ranger 2.3 e

It does not have an ignition control module. The PCM (powertrain control module) fires the coil pack based on signal it recieves from the crankshaft position sensor and the camshaft position sensor.

Fault code 214

This code is caused by the CID sensor, it is a common fault on Escort OBD 1 engine control The Cylinder ID (CID) sensor provides crankshaft position information to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). The PCM uses this information during engine start up to begin sequential fuel injection at the correct time. It's a good possibility the CID is bad or the wiring between the CID and the PCM is open. The CID is located in the back of the cylinder head on the distributor side of the engine systems.
