The knock sensor simply looks for the symptoms of 'knocking'. Knocking is caused when the fuel/air mixture ignites at the wrong time in the four stroke cycle. (Too early or too late). The 3 most common reasons are...
a: The wrong standard or 'octane' of fuel is being used.
b: The wrong type of sparkplug is fitted.
c: The inside of the cylinder is coated in carbon, (soot), deposits.
Should you be using super unleaded or standard unleaded? Check which one is correct for that engine.
Check the spark plugs are the ones designed for that engine. Some can be slightly longer or shorter affecting where the spark ignites the fuel mix.
If the engine cylinder is coated in carbon the cylinder head will have to be removed and professionally cleaned.

Is this a manual trans in this truck, if so, try shifting down a gear. But yes a timing belt could cause this, but usually they wont run very well if the timing belt is that bad worn.

Did you change the spark plug wires and coils? That is usually the main cause of a miss in a cylinder.

I have a 95 oldsmobile 98 regency elite I cant find where the knock sensor goes I have a haynes manual but where it shows it wont go

Well, for starters, your problem got posted under 1985 Oldsmobile 98 - then you said it was a 95 Oldsmobile 98 Regency Elite (HUGE difference between 85 and 95)...then it would be REALLY nice to know which engine we are talking about.

I'll just go with what you said last: 1995 Oldsmobile Regency Elite (Two engine possibilities)

If you have the 3.8L Supercharged engine (VIN CODE "1") it is on the left side of the engine near the oil filter.

If you have the non-supercharged 3.8L (VIN CODE "K") there are TWO of them. One is near the oil filter and the other one is in about the same location on the other side of the engine block.

Please also note that MOST fault codes for knock sensors are not caused by the knock sensors themselves. (they do fail, but it is very rare.) Usually there is either a wiring problem to the knock sensor, or the engine has internal problems causing a "knocking" or "ticking" noise which causes the engine computer to "think" that there is a problem with pre-detonation causing an "ignition ping". The code sets when the computer has retarded the ignition timing as far as it can and the "knock" or "ping" does not go away....usually it doesn't go away because it is not caused by ignition timing. The knock sensor is just doing its job and reporting the knock. It does not know the difference between a knock caused by ignition and a knock caused by internal engine problems.

What causes a p 0327 diagnostic code on a 95 contour

P0327 - Knock Sensor 1 Circuit Low Input Bank 1 or Single Sensor
First check the knock sensor connector. If the connector is clean and secure, replacing the knock sensor usually takes care of the problem.

- An excessively low voltage from the sensor is sent to Powertrain Control Module (ECM) or Engine Control Module (ECM)

The knock sensor is attached to the cylinder block. It senses engine knocking using a piezoelectric element. A knocking vibration from the cylinder block is sensed as vibrational pressure. This pressure is converted into a voltage signal and sent to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) or Engine Control Module (ECM).

Symptoms
- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
- Lack/Loss of Power

Possible causes
- Knock sensor circuit short to GND.
- Knock sensor circuit short to PWR.
- Knock sensor circuit open.
- Damaged knock sensor.
- Faulty Powertrain Control Module (PCM) or Engine Control Module (ECM).

Test and check it. Hope helps.

Check light on 95 maxima code PO305 & PO325

Here you go:
P0305 Cylinder 5 Misfire Detected
P0325 Knock Sensor 1 Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 or Single Sensor)

The 305 is most likely caused by a faulty knock sensor.(325)

1994 s-10 blazer 4.3 vortec wiring harness

The color codes will be different so when you take the harness off the 95 make sure that you label ALL the connectors to make it easier to install it on your Blazer. You may also have to change some sensors or switches up to 95 so that the harness will fit. Label all the empty connectors with their location in the 95 because they will be for options that may or may not be on your Blazer. If you have to access a wire diagram to complete the job then use the 95. DON'T let someone else take the 95 harness out for you andtake a rough diagram of your truck with the plug-ins marked for location and # of pins for wires. Basically it should fit but attention to detail is a must.
Also check out faxonautoliterature. They list GM service manuals but also GM books for engine interchanges that may prove to be very helpful. Hope this helps.

I have a 95 chevy blazer with the 4.3 vortec. It has a knock sensor and temp sensor on the right side of the engine and I cant remember which one goes in the top hole and which one goes in the bottom hole....

The knock sensor will go to the lower hole, make sure you follow tightening instructions or it will no function correctly. Put a liquid sealant on threads, don't use tape.
