Freelander 2 goes into limp mode when accelerating or going up a hill no warning lights

Had a faulty tow cable - bare wires and ever since freelander td 4 2013 goes into limp mode. restarting fixes the problem until the next time. no other obvious problems is this a coincidence or has faulty cable affected onboard computer?

Testimonial: "the garrage havejust changed the airflow meter but this hasnt fixed the problem. concerned that it could be hard to get to the bottom of as no other sysptoms at all. is that unusually that car can run fine and then just go into limp mode? seems a big coincidence that cable was faulty on same day"

SOURCE: Warning icon and diagnotic message came on ''Failsafe Mode''

It sounds like your Throttle Position Sensor (TPS); located in the throttle body. (Diagnositic test may point to alternator or TPS; I experienced the same issue and although replacing an alternator is easier on the pocket book, it doesn't correct the problem; which will get worse.)
(My story) The amber transmission light would pop up; after a restart, it'd go off. Eventually this led into the engine dropping into safety mode (15-20 mph); while driving city/highway without fail everytime; inbetween driving distance became less and less. (prior to this I had taken my car in several times; each time they reset the computer and $$replaced my alternator, as suggested by my mechanic).
As soon as I drove it off the shop to my house, it dropped into safety mode; amber warning lights. Drove it back to the shop; had to replace the throttle body (the only way to replace a bad TPS). It can co$t anywhere from: $1700.00-$2,000.00 parts and labor. Shop around; because my shop diagnosed the problem part wrong, I got a deal (but it still cost me...). Since I had it replaced (April 2008), I haven't had a problem since. Jag Heaven (a parts company located in California) can ship parts anywhere; it was cheaper to do this than buy the part from my shop $aved $$$. Good Luck, hope this helps...

SOURCE: 1996 dodge avenger when cold, the transmission go in limp mode

Is the vehicle's Check Engine Light on? It should briefly light up when you turn the key on (before you start the engine) to show that the light is working correctly. Based on what I've read I believe you should have one or more trouble codes. A place like AutoZone will read the trouble codes for you for free, and you can look them up here - http://www.engine-light-help.com/generic-check-engine-light-codes.html

SOURCE: error code P0093, no fuel leak, filter changed

Hello! #1; The injection pump inlet hose has been known to kink which will cause this fault...The line is foam covered...#2; Have you changed the Fuel Rail Pressure Regulator?
If so, the connector and its wiring may be open or resistive...The wiring is as follows...Purple White from regulator to ECM pin #42...Yellow from regulator to ECM pin #77...Check with an ohm meter set on X1 scale...Most important is the condition of the FRPR connector...Radio shack has a product called DOXIT...It cleans contacts by merely
spraying...No-touch cleaning...Excellent product...$14.95...Two spray cans (small) one cleans the other protects...Not much is necessary...Also clean the connector for the Fuel Pressure Sensor...Wiring; Tan...Orange/Black...And Yellow,,,

Send a comment with results...Guru...Saailer

My laguna mk 2 is in limp mode

Sorry if i laugh but its a renault and as such it has to be connected to the internet via a dealers digital signature to diagnose anything constructive as to the cause of the fault ,have had quite a few of these cars throwing up all sorts of faults and its mainly caused by the fly by wire accelerator sensor on the pedal under the dash ,you will need to change the whole unit its not seperate pieces

replace brake peddleswitch first, if that dont cure, replace the throttle peddle switch, and if that dont worrk replace the reverse switch on gear box and the forward detector switch for the hill desent. as for the oil warning light it can only be one of three things , ie low oil, bad wiring or switch and last the worst of all oil pump failure.

2004 Landrover Freelander stop/reverse light fuse keeps blowing

I had a persistent problem of hill light warning and TCS warning lights coming on for no apparent reason. There is a wire connection between the stop light switch and the control unit to let the system know when brakes are being applied. Changing the stop light switch cured it. The replaced switch was certainly sticking and the new one was of a different design. Replaced it myself as switch comes with a wiring loom. Need to get on your back under the steering wheel! Not very expensive. My car 2001 TD4
