Question about 2000 GMC Jimmy

2 Answers

On my 2000 Jimmy when I'm at low speeds in the city it usually blows quite warm out of the heater (not always). But suddenly it will quit blowing any heat at all. On the highway it just blows cold. The engine temp is right at normal. Any ideas ?

With the key in the off position; remove the RDO BAT fuse for at least 10 seconds then replace the fuse; turn on or start the vehicle and try the A/C again. Removing the fuse should reset blend actuators.

Hello. First, it is probably that the clotch in the coolin fan isn't working. When the coolin fluid is warm, the temperatur put it in work, and the fan works rapidly, when the temperatur lows, the clotch loose the fan an is waiting the warm up again. But your Jimmy don't have the coolin fan in the principal belt, it have an electric coolin fan. In that case, your problen is for a low level of coolin water, or the relays of the electric fan don't work properly.
Finaly, my english isn't good, because I speak in spanish, but if my bad english solves your problem, i'm geting so well. I working every day in electronics cars, and that is the basic metod of analyse that I use.

If the temp gauge is now more stable, the problem is in your heater system, not the engine cooling system.

I have a 2006 Ram 2500 Diesel. My heater quit working. One minute it was blowing hot air, then next it was blowing cold air. Any ideas what this is or how to find out without spending an arm and a leg?

low coolant. disconnected or faulty servo to control difference between hot and cold or the heater core could be clogged. if it warms up when reving the engine then it is probably low coolant.

Heater quit blowing warm

First ensure the coolant is not low it must be at the right level or heater won't work top off the reserve expansion tank with 50 percent water 50 percent antifreeze mixture. Repalce the thermostat, purchase a Haynes repair manual at a Advance Auto parts store for diagrams and thermostat replacement procedure.

Heater is blowing cold air. Could it be that my

Had similar problem. The actuator that opens & closes the air blend door quit working. This is easy to see if you remove glove box. The actuator will move when you adjust the temp selector (do this while the heater is running).

Heater fan blowing intermittently or not at all

Most likely it does, if you can hit the motor and it will run. I can't say for sure but you might want to chk. to see if you got a heater blower motor resister. There located (if its got one) around the heater motor and it controls blower speeds, might be worth checking out.

2000 GMC Heater Problem

I had problems with a similar truck,a 1998 GMC diesel after checking to make sure the control cables were operating the blend door and blowing the mess of the heater core,I replace the thermostats.Still no heat turns out there was a small amount of debris collecting in the fitting for the inlet hose at the thermostat housing after removing it and blowing out the lines the heat was fine.
