Question about Ford Taurus

2 Answers

P301 Code on 2001 Ford Taurus SOHC (not FFL) with 253K miles. Replaced plugs and wires with Bosch Platinum +4 plugs and Motorcraft wire set. P301 returned almost immediately. Engine performance extremely retarded; acceleration is gone (long-slog to get to highway speeds) and climbing hills from a dead start or climbing steep hills will severely overload the engine. Any thoughts?

Coil pack should in the front top of motor, with engine running remove one spark plug wire at a time from coil pack ( careful not to get shock ) they should all have spark, if one don't replace coil pack.

P0301 Cylinder 1 Misfire Detected

perhaps the coil is weak? or maybe you got a bad plug or wire.

i would no reccomend simply removing wire caps from the coil one at a time; aside from being shocked while the engine is running, you may also short out a good coil pack OR something else electrical close by. go to a local parts store to have them run a code reader (many do it for free) OR ask them to borrow or rent the proper tool to use on the wires to the coil to measure spark. using a spark plug grounded to the motor block like a 1950 vehicle with a generator will ruin solinoids, relays, timing sensors...

Hooked up computer to dodge ram 1500 4.7 liter magnum code came up p300 p301 what does this mean

P0300 is the random misfire code. P0301 is the misfire code for Cylinder #1. When was your last tune up? non platinum spark plugs should be replaced around 30-60k along with the wires. With platinum plugs that extends out to 100k. I would try a tune up first plugs and wires. Reasonably cheap fix that is a prevenitive maintenace item anyways. If you have just recently had a tune up or it does not solve your problem you most likely have a bad coil pack on cylinder#1.

Hope This Helps.

I have a 1997 E350 V10 Club wagon, 210,000 miles just change 10 motorcraft spark plugs then keep miss fire and shaking what create that problem?

Probably one of a few easy things. Did you replace one plug at a time? If not, a couple crossed wires will be it. Recheck wires. Make sure all wires are firmly on each plug., Verify the plugs installed are the correct plugs for your truck, AGSF22FSM with a gap of .044, or others brands a gap of .054. Platinum plugs are OEM. Did you check gaps on plugs you installed? Some get dropped by employees. Don't scrimp with cheap plugs!! If you still have original wires trash them and get a quality set!

Have you tired the Idle Air Control Valve? When was the last time you did a tune-up with new Spark Plugs and spark plug wires? Make sure you use Motorcraft Platinum spark plugs if you want the best performance for your vehicle.

2005 Ford Taurus SE 3.0L V6 OBD Codes P0171 and P0174

The P0420 code is a Catalytic converter efficiency code check the compression.Swap the #1 injector to a different location to see if the code follows.Test the coilpak. A cracked exhaust manifold is the most likely cause p0171 and 0174 Induction air leaks, vacuum or some kind fuel restriction, weak fuel pump, restricted fuel filter etc.You also could have an exhaust leak near the upstream o2 sensor. If youtake it in they will probably use smoke to find out where the leak is.

I had the same problem on my '02 Taurus, 3.0, V-6, 24 Valve engine. I replaced the plugs and plug wires which helped the problem but did not cure it. I then replaced the ignition coil (Motorcraft part # DG-485) which solved the problem. Has been running great since then...
