This is common if the fuses are good then you have a bad relay, this relay is called a relay module and it has a few relays in it and has to be replaced as a unit, this is located under the air filter housing, heres a picture of it to help you locate it. hope this helps.2000 ford escort replaced a/c - 1406de6.jpg

There is a red wire going to the AC clutch, if you apply direct 12volts will it engage? If so, the constant control relay module (CCRM) could be defective. Hope this helps.

A/c has full freon but the compressor clutch wont engage. i have found that the plug going into the compressor is not getting any power. what could be the problem?

COULD BE THE LOW PRESSURE SWITCH ON THE RECIEVER /DRIER CK FOR POWER THERE IF HAS 12 VOLTS ONE SIDE JUMPER TERMINALS AT SWITCH COMPRESSOR SHOULD RUN . IF JUMPER GETS HOT LOOK FOR SHORT TO GROUND IN COMP/COIL CIRCUIT OR SHORTED COIL .

HOPE THIS HELPS

1999 Ford Escort - the fan is blowing but the air is no longer cold. How do I know if it just needs freon or if it is a bad compressor?

If the compressor is not engaging (the center is not spinning) then it's likely that the r134a is low in the system

Add a an or two to make it work better.

Also, make sure the radiator fan goes on when you turn the a/c on.

Good luck to you.

I have a 1998 ford escort. The system has been evaced and freon added, also the compressor replaced. The compressor will engage.

Your trying to get the AC to cool and it won't because the orfice tube may be stopped up. during the flushing procrdue did alot of **** come out( broken compresser parts if it flushed good and you put on the new recieved dryer that the warrentee of the compresser requires. and it doesnt coll at al the condenser is stopped up. You cant unstopp them just install a new one evacuate and recharge make sure the fan blows hard and your done

Just replaced the comprssor on my 2001 ford escort but it will not engage. tested the wires with a test light and I have no power plug that connects to the compressor. Key and ac are on.

Have you evacuated the system and charged it with Freon? There has to be some pressure in the system to activate the low pressure switch and allow power to compressor clutch.

2000 Ford Taurus AC compressor not working;I tried putting freon......compressor has to kick-in in order to take in the Freon; compressor wouldn't kick in ; by pass the low pressure switch, Comp didn't...

the compressor doesn't have to be working for the gas to go in
you connect the gas to the inlet line and as the gas pressure in the system rises , the ac compressor will cut in normally and suck in the rest until the pressures are correct
of course you have to be putting in the correct gas because the switches are different
