Question about 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee

2 Answers

I have a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4 X 4 and the cruise control stopped working. I had it in the dealer 3 weeks ago and they fixed it and only charged for labour. I was just out in it and the cruise stopped working again and am not able to take it to the dealer as I am on my way to Canada on vacation. Any idea what may be causing it not to come on?

Put your foot under the brake pedal and lift up on the pedal and try your cruise control. If it works then your brake light switch is faulty or out of adjustment. If that isn't it try looking at your fuse panel.

You either have a short or blown fuse

SOURCE: 2002 jeep cherokee laredo

My 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee had the same problem. Over heated when standing still. Took it to dealer and they could not find any problem with cooling fan. After doing my own investigation I found out that the electric cooling fan would begin to seize up after about 1hr. of operating. (gets hot)

The dealer would look at fan and see that it was running and think its ok. The problem is, it wasn't running fast enough.

I have a relay on the right side of front fender and jumped the fan to stay on with motor off. (must know what your doing). After about 1hr. fan started slowing way down. Returned it to dealer told them what the problem was. They were not smart enough to jump the relay so they put a couple hundred miles on it even though i told them it works OK when moving. Make sure you tell dealer to use the relay to jump.
Replace cooling fan motor. Works great

2006 jeep grand cherokee - cruise light does not come on, and cruise does not engage. after cruise started not working, the cruise light came on briefly one more time.

Most likely a problem with the PCM (Powertrain Control Module). It may be malfunction or it may just need to be reset. Try disconnecting and reconnecting the battery for about a minute. If that doesn't work then go to the dealer and they will run a diagnostic test for about $95. If the PCM is the problem it will be covered under manufacture warranty for 8 years 80,000 miles.

Hope this helps.

The clockspring behind the steering wheel is possibly defective or unplugged. It is the one and only component that all of your symptoms have in common.

Cruise control Turns off intermittantly

You're probably not gonna like this answer, but hwen it comes to electrical problems, you really do need to take it to a garage/mechainc that you trust.

I know I couldn't talk you through what you need to do to fix it, especailly with the Jeep not right in front of me.

If you bought the Jeep from a dealer, take it back there right now, and tell them the cruise troubles you're having...most dealers will fix the problem even on aused car because they want the good news to travel that they took care of you.......they don't want anyone walking around with bad things to say about them.

Good Luck, let us know what ahppens, okay?
