SOURCE: wont run /idle

i'd start with removing the carbs and giving them a thorough cleaning as when bikes sit for so long, the carbs begin to get gummy/varnished from the old gas.

check for blocked holes in the pilot jet & main jet and look for "hard & dried up" gas in passages. be careful of the float bowl gasket as to not tear it or you will need a replacement.

SOURCE: i have a 2003 ttr225 I can get the bike to start

Sounds like the idle circuit in the carb is restricted. The engine is running on the choke only. When the engine reaches a certain temp the fuelthat does get is more readily burned allowing you to back off the choke. The choke probsbly can't be completely opened? right? Fuel quality is also something to consider Oil content in fuel affects combustion temps and volatility. _good luck_Ned_

To get the motorcycle to run at all you have to have the choke pulled all the way ou if you push in the choke the motorcycle dies also i need a speedo do you know were one for sale i bought this...

If your bike will only run with the choke pulled then you need to go in the carbs and clean them out.Sounds like you simply have some stopped up needle jets or main jets so the bike isnt getting the right mixture of fuel and air to run on after it warms up.I just built an 81 CM400 for a girl and hers wouldnt even run with the choke on or off lol. The best and cheapest place to find parts is EBAY to be honest. There are tons of aftermarket bike parts sales on the internet ie: Bike Bandit,KZ parts and the like. I lowered hers by getting a shorter throw shock but you need to check your clearance under the fender so she doesnt bottom out from too short a shock. Good luck.

Motorcycle runs with choke only?

You can try a good fuel additive such as "Seafoam" . Put it in the tank. The more the better to "clean out the carbs". Start her up and let it do it's thing. Let it just idle for a while and try to open the choke. If this does not do the trick. Then you will need to remove the carbs and take them apart and clean them-sorry. When you think you are going to let her set up for 2-3 months, run some Sty-byl fuel additive in your gas.

Last time I STARTED MY VSTAR 1100 I CHOKED IT FOR 10 SECONDS ON HIGH THEN MOVED TO MEDIUM CHOKE FOR 4 THEN TOOK OFF AT NO CHOKE. 2 WEEKS LATER. I started up bike Choke on high bike barely wanted to idle...

Sounds like your flooding it out with the choke out. Try the next time you go to start the bike when it's cold with the choke out and when it starts push the choke all the way in and keep it running with the throtle. If it runs better after doing this then your flooding it on start up. Use 1/2 choke to start cold and see what it does. Good Luck

Will only run in full choke mode

Try a fuel additive to clean the system, also if the airfilter is dirty or damp, this can cause problems.
You may even have a rust problem in the barrels.
Or even the engine oil may have thickened causing a resistance in the crank bearings, so flush the engines oil ways if other solutions don't work.
