SOURCE: Bike was dead - I installed new battery and no change.

Dead how? Completely dead where nothing lights at all? Like the other person said, check main fuse. If lights are on but the bike won't start, the starter clicks but won't turn over, bad starter. But if all the lights light, the starter works and turns over the bike, but it won't start, the kill switch is still activated, or the side-stand switch could be bad or corroded and stuck in from the last time the side-stand was down. I'm hoping you haven't been trying to start the bike with the side-stand down.

Also if your battery is good it will read about 12.6 volts or so with a voltmeter. If you been trying to crank the bike for five minutes or so the battery can be to as low as 10 or 11 volts, or lower.

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: 1976 Harley shovel head, starter will not dis-engage keeps on turning over, new solenoid even if you by-pass the starter button it still does this

Pull the starter, take it apart, give everything a good cleaning, sounds like either the solenoid is hanging or there is a broken return spring

Hi, Lance and the usual suspects are:
1. Fouled spark plugs.
2. Severely discharged or a damaged battery should have 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test if necessary, you may have a preliminary reading of 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amperage the battery is faulty and must be replaced, AGM batteries fail in this scenario more so than lead-acid batteries.
3. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
4. Loose connection at ignition coil or plug between ignition sensor and module.
5. Spark plug cables in bad condition, shorting/leaking, spark plug cable connections loose check for spark leakage in the dark.
6. Faulty ignition coil or electronic control module.
7. Faulty pulse coil.
8. Faulty CKP, CMP, or BAS sensor.
9. Faulty ignition switch.
10. Faulty run/off switch
11. Tilt sensor needs a reset.
12. Security alarm failing to disarm needs reset

Turn Signals Won't Work

Using volt meter to verify polarity for each wire from your dads bike to yours, could help. Also try removing the bulb from each socket try them one side at a time (left bulbs then rite bulbs), not sure about them working when off but sounds like power coming from wrong source(battery),should be on the ignition circuit. compare to your fathers bike!

Husaberg (FE 501-03)Stator problem

I have never heard of a stator preventing a motorcycle from starting. You need a professional, local, second opinion before you plunk down any bucks.

Unless that is, are you calling a magneto a stator? Does your motorcycle have a battery? If it has a battery, you probably do not have a magneto.

Twisted forks

and when the forks/bars/tripleclamps are straight the wheel goes towards the right. ii think they are twisted or bent. how much do new forks cost?Loosen your front wheel slightly. Loosen your fork clamp bolts on the triple clamps slighty. Hold the front brake lever. Put one leg on either side of the front wheel to keep it from moving. Use the handlebars to turn the front end back straight. Tighten everything back up using a torque wrench and torqueing to the proper values from your service manual. Go ride and have fun. ,
