Question about 2006 Honda VTX 1300 S

1 Answer

Where is the kickstand switch located on a 05 vtx 1300c?

My 1300 C will start in Neutral but die when I shift it into gear. Yes the clutch is engaged and yes the kickstand is up. Based upon what I have been told, it may be the kickstand switch--loose or needs replaced. Can anyone advise where this is located and what it looks like? Thanks!

This sounds like the kick stand switch is bad or not making full contact.

You have one of two things going on. (1) You need to check the kick stand switch, your bike thinks the kick stand is still down. It may have been loosened out of adjustment by vibration. If the kick stand switch is out of whack, it will restart as long as the clutch in pulled in. But as soon as you try to let out the clutch it will kill the engine, if it is in gear. (2) Next problem could be, you need to loosen up the clutch cable a little bit, The clutch control on the handle bar has a screw type of adjuster (clutch cable passes through it ), try loosening it till it's easy for you to move the bike without the engine shutting off. Hope it helps and comment if you need more clarification.

2006 Honda VTX 1300 no electrical power

Hi, Chrisieb before testing any electrical component in the Starting Circuit it is "IMPERATIVE" that you have a fully charged battery of 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test if necessary, you may have a preliminary reading of 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amperage, the battery is faulty and must be replaced. AGM type batteries fall into this scenario more so than lead-acid batteries.
1. Ignition Switch not in the "ON" position.
2. Engine Run Switch in the "OFF" position.
3. Check the battery terminals for damage or corrosion check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter.
4. Bank angle sensor needs a reset or is faulty.
5. FOB battery low or dead.
6. Faulty ignition switch.
7. Faulty starter button.
8. Faulty kickstand, clutch, neutral safety switch.
9. Security alarm needs a reset.
10. Starter relay, solenoid, starter motor or circuit wiring faulty.
11. Starter armature or field coils have failed.
12. Main fuse or circuit breaker may be blown or faulty.
13. Faulty ignition relay.
14. The electric starter is working but starter clutch has failed.
15. Check for engine trouble codes.

2003 vtx1300 The green neutral light will not work. The bike will start only with the kickstand uo, not dow, and cluthch pulled. Why will starter not be entergized without the kickstand down?

The green light is either a burned out bulb, disconnected wire or faulty neutral switch. Both the kickstand and the clutch lever act as a safety. The kickstand> to make sure you don't forget to put it up when starting down the street, > the clutch to make sure to make sure the bike doesn't get away from you if the shift lever is accidentally put in gear while starting. PLEASE rate my answer. Thanks!
