The blinking red light is telling you the code. Watch how many times it blinks. when it pauses for a seccond, watch again. Write down the number of times between each pause. Then repost with that info and I might be able to figure out what is wrong. Hopefully before it is permanent.

If your TV looks 3D, warped, or distorted it likely has a convergenge problem.
If however it just looks dull, washed out, redish, or if it looks like objects on the screen have halos the fluid in the lens has soured.
You can search google for parts or you can get the parts with repair instructions from sites such as www.TvRepairKits.com

The vertical deflection has stopped which cuts off the picture tubes to prevent burn in. Check the vertical output or the deflection board may need replacement.

It is the convergence chips in the tv. They can be replaced at a repair shop or by any one with experience in soldering. You can find them online

Hi.

If you get audio, and TV menu, but you have no raster, then the fault is concerning either the video input/video processing on main digital board, or the optical group.

Lamp and ballast are working since you can see TV menus and closed captions.

Test the TV using different inputs and input cable (you may have gone through this already). Try at least two different inputs (eg AV cable, SCART, component , HDMI...)

Ensure you use Source/Input button to browse channels.

That can at least tell you if the problem is the video input, or the video processing.

Either than that you will need a technician testing the TV at component level to find the fault.

If you want to contact an authorized technician, or if you want to get a quote on repair, you can call the number listed on the owners manual.

Regards.

go into menu and adjust convergence. if red moves, it just needs adjusting from your remote. if it doesnt move or is bent then you have a bad convergence ic. possible fuse. suggest local service center. sorry

Have you tried a different input? Also have you tried a different source for example if your using your cable try a dvd player of video game system. This way you can isolate exactly what the problem is. also make sure that the video is hooked up to the corresponding audio. Once I have more information I can assist you further.
Thank you,
lee

I have a few questions and A VERY GOOD IDEA OF WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOUR SET.

Go into the customer menu and select Convergence: if the blue is skewed OR WILL NOT MOVE IN SOME DIRECTION, the set has a bad convergence IC.

Based on WHAT YOUR MODEL NUMBER IS this set uses TWO of the STK-392-110 CONVERGENCE IC's.

If you have some skills at soldering and are handy I can give you general instructions and also tell you what you will need

2 new STK-392-110 CHIPS
1 good soldering iron
Solder
de-soldering braid or wick(to remove solder)
Some liquid solder flux (used to un-solder and then when re-solder new parts in.
Some heat sink2.gif compound(applied to the back of the new chips before installed)

THE ABILITY TO GET AT THE CHIPS---I can if you want tell you what is involved here--this is really the hard part on most of these sets--yes, each chip does have 18 pins that have to be unsoldered/ soldered in.

Let me know if you are able to do it or if you HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR NEED ADVICE--I am here to help..

Regards, SD TECH

If the relay clicks you most likely have a leaky diode or bad transistor in the stand by or start up circuit. There is a manual available for that model called. Toshiba Power Supply and Shutdown circuit Troubleshooter. Its available at the following link. It gives step by step instructions so you can figure out exactly whats wrong with your set. The site emails it too you after you place your order and they also provide free unlimited tech support so you will have a resource for help if you need it. I am one of their on line support techs. I highly reccomend that Manual to any one with a toshiba that will not power up. Here is the link.

the power led may be flashing a code you can google.
My Panny will flash the power LED when there is a problem. Well, for many problems anyway. Observe the sequence like 7 and 3. I do not know if the Toshiba has that feature. If not, the issue is most likely power, HOWEVER, any board could be at fault since it powers up then shuts down. An excessive load on another board could be shutting it down. A fault on the PS board itself could also be shutting it down.

It sounds like the main internal power supply has gone south. Your best bet would be to take it into a TV repair shop and determine if it would be an inexpensive repair. Usually repairs on the newer TV's can run higher then replacing the TV with a newer model.
