You might consider calling Sears or GE service, purchasing a service contract, and letting them take a look. If the cost to fix is beyond a certain amount, they will give you a significant credit towards the purchase of a new unit. We have done this with our dish washer and microwave oven, both of which were out-of-warranty. In the case of the microwave, they had to come back a second time and completely rebuild the unit. It was well worth the money to purchase the service contract.

Always supply a model number, each model has it's own foibles. It is very hard to assist without full details.
BUT, is this an "LAT" series Maytag washer??
If so, this is a normal rinse, the manufacturer calls it a "Spray Rinse" and it is quite normal.it only adds the water during the spin cycle, after the rinse water is ejected and then only for about 1 minute, the water passing through the fabric as it passes by the water inlet flume and empties during the spin.

The cold water valve screen in the washer water valve is clogged. You have grit in your water and it will continue to happen until you get a filter system installed on to it.

It is possible that the machine does not start off the cycle because there are errors due to feedback from the inputs. For the program to start up the main program controller must initiate the INLET/MOTOR/DRAIN pump/ valve to open up and allow each function to be driven starting from the flow of water into the drum as also the drain valve to open to exit the water at the point of the program cycle. If this does not happen then the voltage at the valve/motor/pump must be checked or the fault relates to no voltage from the controller. This means the controller is a suspect.

If the water flows though the inlet then the flow pressure should be good, if not the inlet valve is bad or there is dirt in the filter. Also check the flow at the inlet of the water line. Once the water comes into the system the WATER LEVEL SENSOR - normally a pressure switch- must activate at the preset/chosen level to give the signal to the program controller to switch on the motor. What is most important for the motor to start functioning is that the door switch must be ON when the door is shut or this will be an error for starting the motor for rinse and wash.

Is the motor running and the belt in place Johnny

Should have a tube that goes from the bottom of the washer tub to the control panel - check the hose for problems first; if none found - you will need to replace the water level switch. It is a pressure sensitive (diaphragm) sensor, that may have failed or stuck, causing a fault to the main controller/timer. I would favor a stuck diaphragm over a hose problem...
Hope this helps...

From the Maytag site: To remove the code, press pause or cancel button twice and the power button once. If the code is still displayed, unplug the washer or disconnect the power for one minute. Items were detected in the washer during the Clean Washer cycle. Remove items from the drum and restart the Clean Washer cycle.
