All of the hose connections seem to be secure; however, during the spin cycle water comes out of the bottom of the machine Most of the water seems to drain through the the drain hose, but we are still getting puddles underneath the machine.

You may want to check the seal at the bottom of the agitator, there is a o-ring that keeps the water in the drum from leaking through the agitator as it spins. This is a cheap seal and will wear over a period of time from exposure to bleach and detergent. You need to take the agitator apart and remove it from the drum and you should see this seal at the base of the agitator were it meets the drum.
Replace the seal and reassemble, take the metal casing off the washer and fill the drum with a little water, wait, and see if the water is leaking under the drum. If no leak, try to reassemble and run the washer. If is still leaks then check http://www.applianceaid.com/genew.html

My washer is about 5 years old and has gradually started making a really loud high pitched grinding noise during the spin cycle. One day after starting a load it began to smell like somthing hot inside and like something was burning. I didnt use it for about 2 weeks and my husband was told to replace the pump. We did this and it still is grinding so loud! It is quite noisy during the wash too, but nothing like when it is spinning. I have tried setting it to the slow spin to reduce the noise and hopefully save use from having to buy another one, but it still is sooo loud. Please help, any advice will be appreciated. My husband refuses to call a repair man to come and listen to it and fix it for us....I really need this fixed asap- as I am starting nursing school on monday and wont have time for all this later.
Thanks so much :)

if it's making a noise then either your drain pump bearing is going out or your thrust bearing is going out (assuming the noise happens in both spin and wash). Tip the washer backwards so that you can get underneath of it. Take the belt off and spin the pump pulley on the right side. This should spin effortlessly.
The middle pulley is the trustbearing pulley. Spin this--- one direction it should have a little bit of resistance--- the other should have more resistance

machine made a loud noise during spin cycle but it continue the washing cycle. Recently the noise got louder with heavy smoke coming from the washer and stop completely. After a while I start it again and do the spin but the loud noise remain the same.

this is my experience repairing the maytag washer Atlantis mav series 9750 aww, I had to replace the spin bearing since it was making a jet engine noise when it was spinning out the water. its not an easy job for my 1st time taking this machine apart, you literally take it all apart to get to this bearing, but now I can show how to do it with pictures making it easier for you to do it. even if you have to replace something other than the spin bearing, this how to tutorial will show you how to get to most of the parts in this machine

My washer (Maytag MAV6200AWW) washes fine, fills, agitates, drains, etc EXCEPT it does not spin dry. It sounds like it spins but it does not actually spin. Any ideas? Should I have it looked at by a tech?

Be sure to check inside basket very carefully to make sure no loose nails or screws or drill bits etc that were left in a pocket are sticking through a hole in the basket and locking it to tub. This is common. If that is not the problem, one of three things has happened. 1 The thrust bearing that releases the brake has worn out. This is the most common and easiest thing to repair. If you tilt the machine back so you can look under it you will see the pulley that turns the transmission. When the pulley turns one direction it works the agitator, turn it the other direction and you should see it push the brake up that is directly above it. The thrust bearing kit includes the pulley and all bearings and washers to release brake. If you are mechanichal and can follow the directions that come with it, it is a fairly simple repair. 2 The brake lining has come apart and "stacked" itself in the brake housing. Replacing the brake is not hard, but there is about 200lbs of spring force pushing against the brake and housing that must be released slowly. I would recommend you call a technician for this just because I don't want anyone to get hurt trying to follow my directions on this repair. 3 An item of clothing has found its way between the basket and tub and has the basket bound up. This would mean removing agitator and basket. It is not likely this has happened, but I have seen it before.

My Maytag washer MAV5920EWW is not working after power outage. The lights around the control knob flash twice every 15 seconds. When I press down the control knob to start the machine, it works until the lights flash again. I tried unplugging and re-plugging or turn it off, but nothing I tried so far can reset it. A technician checked it and said the control board needs to be replaced. Is there a way to reset it? Thanks a lot!

Machine started making loud noise when spinning. It sounds like it is going to 'take off', you can hear it throughout the house. I had a repairman out & he said the seal was shot and in order to replace that I needed a new tub (NC for the tub). Is it worth fixing? Is this a problem with these machines? we did notice a small amount of water under the machine a few weeks ago but had drain problems so we waited til that was fixed-haven't noticed water since. It is only 6 years old 7 I paid a good amount for it! My husband is handy-is this something we can fix ourselves for alot less? They quotes me $250+/- for seal and 1-1/2-2 hrs. labor.

Chances are it is not the tub. It is probably the transmission. It has been my experience that the transmission bearing starts to make noise. Look under the unit to see if you can spot any transmission oil. If there is oil, it's time to start shopping for a new unit.

Model # HAV2558AWW has developed a loud noise during the spin cycle. Sounds as if something is being "clipped" during the spin.

Your maytag is really an amana and the bearings are bad. Yes it does cost a lot. If i were you i would buy another washer. Get a whirlpool. (whirlpool now owns maytag)

I need to replace this thrust bearing kit in my maytag washer and need assistant/help/information in doing that.
any special tools required to do the job, can I do it myself.
Posted by Anonymous... on
yes you can do it yourself no special tools are need just a couple good flathead screwdrivers and a lot of patiance be sure to put all the new washers and bearing back on in the same order the old ones came off putting the C clip on can be a little tricky but take you time and it can be done you may hvw to use the flat head to pry on the trans. shaft to get the clip in the groove then use a pair of chanell locks or pliers to snap it on if you get a new style bearing it may not look like the one you take off and not have all he washers just snap the small plastic pice onto the bearing put it on the the pulley the most of the time just the thin washe then the C clip the dust cover put belt back on the test machine

Where is the reset button on maytag atlantis washing machine ,,It is plugged in and turned on at power point ,,Machine is also set and turned on by pulling cycle knob and nothing happens ,,,ie no power
Posted by scottrhys on
there is no reset button, the reset for the system is to unplug it for at least 3 minutes from the wall socket, if it doesn't reset then there is a electrical failure of the central control circuit board.
