Question about Maytag MDE9700AYW Neptune 174 Electric Dryer
The other night i was getting clothes out of the dryer and turn in to go backwards to get the clothes out. Now it won't turn, it turns on and lightly hmmmmsss. I took off the top, felt the belt and then noticed ah hah! The belt was loose. Then went to the the back took off the lint tube saw the belt kinda hangin, i tried my dam nest to put the belt on and still too loose. Can someone help me? Or should i call someone, to make things more complicated, my wife has a new $1k Samsung being delivered. I would love to save that $1k. HELP!!
The spring has come off the tensioner pulley or the spring may be attatched to the motor and the motor puts tension on the belt look inside for the spring id say its come off...

If belt is not broken, then the tensioner is not routed properly. Generally belt comes around drum, then around tensioner pulley then on motor pulley. Tensioner is spring loaded, so you need to pull up on tensioner to get belt around motor. Good luck.

Just remove the screws around the vent tube in the back and you can see the belt tensioner laying there on the floor of the dryer.
Most likely someone turned the drum the wrong direction and the belt came off.
The belt goes through the opening in the tensioner and under the idler pulley and then onto the motor drive pulley. Make sure to have the tensioner mounted into the floor first.
It just slides over into a slot and then over to the other side as tension is put on it.

IT SOUNDS LIKE THE OUTER BAND TO HOLD ON THE DOOR BOOT/SEAL. WHAT I HAVE SEEN IS THAT AN ARTICLE OF CLOTHES WAS NOT ALL THE WAY INTO THE WASHER AND IT WAS STARTED, PULLING THE DOOR BOOT INTO THE WASHER. THE ONLY OTHER THING I HAVE NOTICED WITH THIS NEW BREED OF SUPER CAPACITY WASHERS IS THAT THEY LIKE BIGGER LOADS TO HELP BALANCE THEMSELVES. IT MAY BE POSSIBLE THAT IT WAS SO SEVERLY OUT OF BALANCE THAT IT PULLED THE BOOT INTO THE TUB AS THE MAYTAGS OF THAT MODEL LINE WERE KNOWN TO NOT BE THE MOST SENSITIVE TO OUT OF BALANCE CONDITIONS. THERE IS A CONTROL BOARD KIT THAT COMES WITH A MOTION SENSOR NOW FOR THEM AS AN UPGRADE.

SOURCE: Coin Stuck In My Dryer
well, i can get into the machine, not aproblem.. is the coin perhaps trapped inside one or more of the innerr drum viens perhaps??? anyway, ifyou removet he2 screws securing the door, and the 2 screws opposite the hinge, the front "u" shaped front panel will tilt off fowards.. from there theres a few 5/16 screws holding the main top assy to the froma of machine, you can remove them and tilt the top back, giving you acess to the outer drum assembly( and you can removethe drum viens and retreive te hoffending "coins" in htat fasion.. hope this helps.. TURN OFF POWER TO UNIT<< LIVE WIRES!!!!!!!
