I had the same problem. The camera "Play" function worked fine, so I could view pictures on the screen, but when switching to camera function I immediately got the "Battery is low" message and the camera would shut down, even with brand new batteries.
I fixed this my adding a wad of aluminium foil to the exposed ends of the batteries to make the battery compartment door close more tightly. The camera function srated working again immediately.
If you are sceptical then believe me, I was sceptical, too, but it genuinely worked first time.

My Casio ExilimEX-Z120 shows 'Low Battery' whenever it is turned on to take a picture and automatically turns off. This happens with fresh batteries. It is fine when I just use the the picture...

It happens because some alkaline batteries just don't have the initial surge of power output required to drive all the little motors, the display and so on.

You need lithium batteries, like the 8x Ultimate Lithium.
They are expensive initially, but on average are more economical than the cheaper stuff.

I've tested them on my Kodak Z712 IS, and any owner of this camera knows what I'm talking about.

The best -and cheapest- solution I found, is the rechargeable Li-Ion batteries.
I got 2 batteries and one charger. I'm using one battery, while the other one is charging.

My casio ex-z80a turns off automatically

This is pretty obvious but it bears asking, Have you checked your batteries? If the batteries are low, digitals will shut down. Check your battery connections to make sure that all are making good contact. You may need to adjust them by bending slightly.
If this doesn't help, try a default reset. take the battery out and if there's a memory battery, take that out too let it sit for a bit and then reinstall.
Hope this help get you back running.

Battery keeps dying

Most likely the charging circuitry has failed. When you fully charge the new battery what does the battery meter read on the camera? Your two options no matter what the case are repair vs. replacement. If you need further assistance let me know.
Thanks,
Lee

Casio Exilim battery won't charge

Casio batteries have a issue and are very weak you should not let it get below 5% when it is this low the camera will come on say battery is low and turn off. if it remains this or lower the battery can go out the good thing is you can get them really cheap off ebay.

Low battery message

Yeah, buy a throw-away. You're an idiot to be licking batteries.

It doesn't take much to give that zap to the tongue when you touch a battery.

Put it on the charger, or buy one.

Red light continually flashes, and won't take picture

Set the camera to anything except no flash. Turn it off. Take out the battery. Wait 5-10 seconds. Put the battery back in. The flash should now work until you turn the camera off again (and then you must remove/replace the battery to get the flash working again).

The flash requires some kind of "master reset" to work. Haven't found a permanent solution to this.

No Battery Life

On mine, the battery terminal on the inside of the battery case is broken, by opening and shutting the cover a few times until it contacts properly it is normally OK. Anyone know where I can buy a new contact plate in theUK?

Battery will not hold a charge.

Casio says:

Red blinking light = defective battery

No flashing light = possible defective charger.

What you can do is send all your stuff into casio and they will test everything for you and see what they could replace for you.
