Question about Kodak EASYSHARE Z1285 Digital Camera

3 Answers

When I turn the camera on, immediately it goes off. The lens is all the way out and won't retract. I have held the 'on' button down, but that doesn't help. It will not turn on. I have fresh batteries.

Kodak Easy Share Z1285 turns on for a second then goes off. The lens is all the way out and doesn't go back in when shut off. I repeatly turned it on, butit goes off. I kept holding down the turn on button ... but that doesn't help.

Same problem. Lens fully extended and won't retract. When I hit power button, it activates the LCD screen for a couple seconds on the reset Date/Time screen, then shuts off.

Push on the front of the lens when you turn it on. The lens extended to far and doesn't have enough power to close it back.

So let me clear it up. I did some research and on Kodak's website they say they recommend up to 2 gig on regular SD and their Kodak brand 8 gig SD/HC I bought an off brand 8 gig that does not work! My 2 gig SD is Kingston Works great.

I have a Nikon AF-S 55-200mm 1:4-56ED. Focuses fine, lens goes in and out fine...except...it doesn't retract completely flush with the barrel of the lens. Is this a big problem?

I do not have that particular lens in my collection, but not all lenses do completely retract to a flush position. If your lens performs well at all focal lengths and takes sharp pictures, it is probably ok.

Have you made sure that the batteries are LiIon and fully charged? I had a similar problem with a Kodak Easyshare camera that required the higher voltage LiIon battery pack rather than alkaline AAs which will fit in there but is not exactly right.

Shutdown sometimes fails - Lens retracts then immediately extends again

I am having the same problem with my camera. I have to take the batteries out to get it to shut down. I also cannot view my photos on the camera, when I try to turn it to view, it goes to shoot mode.

Lens stuck out; camera won't stay on

I have the same problem. Its actually because the On/Off button got pushed in somehow and its stuck. At this time right now, im not sure how to make it unstuck, but sometimes it will stay on. But when you push on, since its being held down, its stuck that way and immediately turns off because its still being held down constantly. Maybe try using a thing needle to try and push it out?

Lens retracts when turned on

Defective mechanism, a stucked mechanism is present. camcorder are smart it can detects error and shuts down itself for safety. earlier models dominoes the defect if the user is not quick enough to react when something goes wrong with the camera. You need professional service to fix it.
