Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

42pf7320 10 Hi, I have a Philips 42PF7320. This tv will not start. Both green leds from PSU turn on for a few seconds. Also the green status led at the front of the tv is going on for a second. After that de tv is not responding on any signal. Not from the keyboard as from de remote. Standby voltage is 5.2 volt. Also 3.3 volt on the hercules chip is avalable. You can see the signal on point 120 from the hercules chip going to zero when you push the power button but the signal on point 122 stays zero. The red led at the front of the tv stays also off. I realy don't know what the problem is. I have tested the samsung power supply . This seems to be ok. Herbert

These blinks (flashes) are fault indication. By the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit stage inside the TV. Count the blinks occur at one time switch ON, carefully. Do it once again, and make sure about the number of blinks. If the flashes are continious, non-stop, the main system control IC should be suspected. If you wish to get more details, check the site linked here. It has blinking codes detail to many brand TVs. Pull up older posts. Check the site in 'Mosaic' view. It will make search easy. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
Counting procedure to blinking codes to Philips TVs, are entirely different to that of other brands. Cannot count it directly. Just surf the site linked above for more details.

Hi, If all else fails, try do a hard reset. You can verify from your manual, but in some units, this is merely unplugging the unit from mains for a couple of hours. Try again, if it still shows error codes (blinking lights) you probably have to seek the services of a qualified professional. Hope this be of some help/idea. Good luck and kind regards.

SOURCE: Hitachi 32LD8700 - TV won't turn on although has power

The general problem with LCD type TV's is that the power supply fails. They are very sophisticated designs that are difficult to troubleshoot and generally best to just replace the module, but sometimes there is visible damage in some of the electrolytic capacitors (visibly bulged) and high voltage rated parts can be substituted.

I think its something on the picture frame board or on the line output board. I would sway to the line output simply because I think but not sure that error code is linked to the line output stage plus when you unplugged the cable the voltage seems within parameters. Good luck.

Most likely the YSCAN UPPER board and/or YSCAN LOWER Board also gone. Your new YSUS board may damage again if you don't replace the bad YSCAN boards. Try to replace the three boards together and then to verify which boards are bad one by one. Good luck.

Hi, have a philips 42pf7321d/37 tv that won't turn on, I replaced 2 capacitors that were bad but when I tried to turn it on again two leds on the power supply turn on making a clicking noise they stay on...

Hi.

The clicking noise and the leds on mean that there is an incorrect voltage value detected from the main controller board. When this happen we say that the main controller is forcing the PSU to standby, sending the set in protect mode.In protect mode only

The PSU can be tested bridging the low voltage control lines that are turning the higher DC volts from PSU on.

The procedure to test the PSU is illustrated in the following article. I wrote the article for LCD, but the procedure is more or less the same on your plasma. Simply disregard the part on inverter (plasma work in a different way and have no inverter or backlight system) How to test an LCD TV or monitor PSU

Bridging the voltage lines is a repair suitable for an experienced technician. If you are a DIYer, better testing the resistors and components near to the faulty capacitors by reading Ohms to check if they have continuity. This operation is done with power not connected.

If you need to replace the whole board, here the part number: POWER SUPPLY UNIT LJ44-BLAH101C PHILIPS. The part is temporarily out of stock, and may be available ordering from Philips.

Here the service manual:
PHILIPS Chassis EP1.1U AA Service Manual.

Hi, and unfortunately I am facing the same issue. My TV blinks GREEN LED for a few seconds then starts flashing RED led. The result I hear from this is that it is the SSB Panel and the estimated cost for service is $600.00 it sounds like you are STARTING with the problem. I began that way too. If you are under warranty, call Philips NOW!

Error 7 is a power related problem. This is what u need to do.
Remove back cover.
Plug in power when tv goes into error protection, check power supply and see how many times the led flashes. Right below the flashing green led there is a list 1-13 of error codes and what they mean. Your problem will probably be an error 7or 8 VSET or VSCAN . Which ever error code it gives you VA VSET or VSCAN or whatever it indicates look at the cable connectors to the power supply unplug that connector and the TV will stay on. And there will be your problem.
