How to fix a printer that don't power up

The printer is out of warranty - I don't bother trying to dismount it if necessary - HP Standard procedures don't give any result.

You may need a new power supply. eBay has plenty for sale. CM751-60045 is what your printer needs. I will attach a video on how to replace it of you are interested in doing that. Also a link of one of the listings is attached as well.

That printer is fubar and needs to be junked. And don't bother asking HP to help you because they only help during warranty period. Otherwise they refer you to a forum or suggest you buy another printer - an HP of course.

My 8 yr old hp LaserJet 3030 printer cartridge is printing extremely light. Just got a new cartridge and it is not much better! I can barely see the ink on the paper. Any ideas how to fix?

Forget buying a new toner cartridge and don't bother re-installing anything - This is a power supply problem - The electrolytic capacitors fade away after a few years of power on and the high voltage to the printing engine drops too low.I tried a new toner cartridge - no help - re-installed drivers - no help.If you can handle a soldering iron or know a friend who can, replace the following capacitors on the power supply board on the LHS (power cord side). Make sure you use low impedance 105 degree power supply types. Warning - high voltage !!! power cord out and wait 30 minutes before touching anything.
C374 341 503 529 (47uF/35V), C526 (1uf/50V), C506 (0.47uF/35V), C515 (100uf/50V). All the others tested fine in mine. Also make sure you install them the correct way around!
Now I have "black as black can be" prints just like new and I can set print density back to 2 not 5.
enjoy ;-)7_25_2012_3_03_18_am.jpg

The printer may be faulty. I suggest you return it to the supplier to have it fixed or replaced under warranty. If you try to fix it yourself you may void your warranty.

Occationally turn on

Hi,

This is an indication of out-of-regulation in the power supply section. This is cause by leaky/dried electrolytic capacitor in that section. It will dropped the supply from normal voltage and will disable the unit.It needs a little warm-up to make itself stable but the symptom will get worst until the unit will not even power up. Sometimes it has a bulged/dome at the top but not all, it is better that you have a capacitor checker/tester to determine its condition. Your unit will back to normal again if the leaky/dried capacitor is isolated.

If you don't have necessary tools and test instruments, and can't do the job yourself, I would advice you to look for a professional to troubleshoot the problem. Don't attempt to work in the power supply if you don't know the safety precaution of handling it, there some stored electricity enough to hurt you with a little mistake only.

Also check if your unit is under warranty /extended warranty, avail it because the manufacturer of your unit will fix it for free. Don't open the back panel, this will void the warranty.

Hope I helped you.

Have a nice day!

Thanks for using Fixya.

You may need to reset the OfficeJet 4255:

1) With the power on, disconnect the USB cable
2) Follow the recommended procedure in your manual to remove the ink cartridges
3) Wait for the "Insert cartridges" message
4) Unplug the machine for 1 minute
5) Reconnect the power cord (press power button if necessary) to power on the unit
6) Reinstall the cartridges, close any access doors
7) Allow the machine to print a calibration page (if necessary)
8) Reconnect the USB cable
Try printing again.

If this procedure fails, your OfficeJet may need servicing by a qualified tech.

Same as above: error that ink cartridge is damaged or missing

Try simply turning off the printer, disconnect from power, and let sit 5 minutes. This will bleed out the printer's internal memory. Reconnect and try again. Otherwise, if you can't get the reset procedure to work, unfotunately, these printer have an integrated printhead system, and the printer will need to be replaced.

Can Not Clear Out of Ink Error

Attempt to reset the electronics to factory default. Turn printer on let stabilize, then pull the power plug. The press and hold the power button for a few minutes.. Replug the power line and push power button - see what happens.
(If that does not do it, don't bother checking with HP since they won't do squat for you unless you are still under warranty. They will refer you to a forum or suggest you get another printer - an HP of course! They suck big time.)

Cradle jam after inserting ink cartridge, wont align

May-15-2008
in a HP-PSC-1210, replaced empty HP56 black-inkjet cartridge.
Afterward, printer gave error message AND unable to "dismount" the cartridge.
Finally discovered that an HP57 color-inkjet cartridge had accidentally been mounted/installed. A handyman relative was able to dismount the (wrong) cartridge.

Cradle did not actually jam, though printer would not print.
