Hi Melissa,

I am sorry to hear this. I am thinking there may either be a hardware or software error. In which case, I have provided a link below to an Help page that may help you with the software side. If the link doesn't help you I suggest you take it to your nearest Apple Store for a Genius to take a look at.

Resetting a Frozen iPad

If you encounter an iPad problem that causes it to freeze, or if it is sluggish when you tap on an app, try a hard reset.

  1. Press and hold down the sleep/wake button at the top of you iPhone or iPad while at the same time, pressing and holding down the Home button on the front of your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Keep holding both buttons held until the screen turns off. It will automatically turn back on again and display the Apple logo.

Kindle will not shut off-goes to shut off or cancel but wont move. doesnt charge well-doesnt always hold charge

Patricia, Using the power switch, you can forcibly reset your Kindle device. This reset will shut down the Kindle without accessing the shutdown command from within the Kindle's operating system, a particularly useful tool when dealing with a frozen Kindle. To initiate a hard shutdown, Kindle disconnect from its charger, slide and hold the power switch for about 20 seconds. This will force the Kindle to shut down, now it can be restarted normally.
Check links below for charging problems.

My kindle screen freezes and/or shuts down repeatedly. What is wrong?

Most likely your memory is low or your battery is not fully charged. You can also reset it by holding the off button for 40 seconds, then press it again to reload. Download an app that cleans junk files from your Kindle.

Screen frozen. Push reset screen goes blank and will not turn on. Put in charger and back to the frozen screen.

Try again. Make sure Kindle is charged. Hold down the on button until you see the fire logo. This usually works.

I charged my kindle, but can't get it to turn on

According to Love My Kindle Fire, nearly every Kindle owner will, at some point, need to learn how to "reset" their machine.
"When I hear (or read) these words from those who are experiencing a problem with their Kindle Fire it usually ends with something like, "turn on", "charge", or "work".

If suddenly your Kindle Fire won't work, then its most likely locked up. However, sometimes when it locks up, you can't tell because the screen goes dark (either gray or black). It just looks like it's off when in fact it is already one. cause the screen goes dark, either gray or black. It just looks like it's off when in fact your Kindle Fire is on but is stuck. When an electronic device locks up or freezes usually resetting it fixes the problem. Resetting your Kindle Fire is actually really easy, just hold down the power button for at least 20 seconds. .If your Kindle Fire won't turn on it's possible the battery went dead (if it was left "on" too long).
Plug in the power charger and wait about 15 minutes to make sure it gets enough charge, and then try turning it on again.
If it still won't turn on, try to reset the Kindle Fire again to be sure it's powered off.
If it still won't work, try someone else's charger, in case yours died.

Won t turn on

Have you held the button in for ten seconds? Are you pushing it in correctly? Did you charge it? If the battery goes down it will not come on. Plug in the charger for awhile then try turning it on. If you spilled something on it you might have a problem. So many things we dont know. Try the charger first.

Sony tablet

Option 1 (Non-destructive)
  • Press and hold the power until it powers off. This is considered a "hard reset"
  • Power the device back on.
Option 2 (Destructive)
  • Typically involves powering off the tablet. Once off tap the power button then press and hold Power + Vol Down until you get a menu
  • Us the volume buttons to navigate to "factory reset"
  • Use the power button to select it.
  • This will wipe out the tablet and reset it back to defaults.

My textbook 7p won't turn on

This tablet does t reset with the power button unlike other Android devices. When you hold down the on/off switch, it only drains the battery. If you see the color indicator still charging, allow a full charge. Then, only stay put and pulse the button for a moment quick and let it rest few seconds to try again and again. Only when u see a light coming out of the screen, and I recommend you do this with the power cord on, you hold the power switch down until the rebooting is iniciated. Let go til it is finish and see where the problem is. More likely, like mine, the Settings stop working and needs tune up for the CPU. Never leave an application running when closing your system. With or without internet connection.
