Hi Ellie, sorry that didn't work for you but you still may need to do it after this . Ok this problem is actually called
Apple logo boot loop . There are two more ways to try and I will list the other easiest way first .
Try holding on the power /sleep button ( may take a few moments so don't let go ) down only . You should see the apple logo disappear and when it does continue holding until you see at the top of ipad a slider to power off. When you see the slider , realease power button and pause only to a count of about 2-3 and slide to power off . . Now in the middle of i pad you will see a gear like object rotating . It will last a minute or so and then disappear . Wait about 5 minutes or so then hold down on the power and home button at the same time . Keep holding may take a minute or two . When you see the apple logo again realease both buttons and it should disappear . Then after a minute after disappearing , press the power button to turn on and should open on home page . Try this and if no go I have one other option . As soon as you complete this get right back to me and I will be waiting to see if it worked . It should , and is essentially the same as before but your completely powering down . Don't forget though to use the power button this time instead of the home button to turn on and hold it down instead of clicking until you see a flash of your home page and then realease , after flash of home page screen will go black or off . then click power button one time and screen should open and stay on on home screen

What we are trying to do is keep you from connecting to a
Computer and using iTunes to restore . You will lose your data if so but this way would be a sure way to get out of logo boot loop . But requires a computer , and you lose data . Of course this works but is the last resort .
Ok the final way I know is this and is a little more different . But similar .
Ok for this way you need to orient yourself and know where the volume + button is for when the time comes you will need to be JOHNNY on the spot .
    1) depress home button and sleep button at same time and hold down until you see the apple logo and screen flash like before and by flash I mean the logo will disappear just like before
2)immediately realease home button while continuing to hold power button and press and the VOLUME + and once you depress it realease power button but continue to hold volume up + button . Do not let go of volume + button .
This may take as long as 5 or 6 minutes . So get yourself comfortable and your finger will get tired but don't let go .
After the 5 6 minutes while continuing to hold volume up button the screen will automatically pop on your home page . When you see this let go of volume button . This too has or is a good high percentage rate in working . I know I've done this and my freinds as well when our jailbroken iPads get stuck in cydias boot loop . Let me know I'm close by if you need

Hi Alan, disappointingly enough, the 2nd way did not work either. The logo disappeared but immediately came back on and nothing else happened. I am ok doing a factory reset....there is not much on this ipad.

Ok for iTunes restore open iTunes on your computer. It needs to be up and running .
    2) plug in USB CABLE TO COMPUTER ONLY . DO NOT PLUG INTO I PAD JUST YET
    3) turn I pad off and to do so you know huhuhaha , hold the home and power buttons down at same time until logo disappears or slider to off appears and wait a few moments to be sure ipad is off
    4) hold down on the devices / I pads home button then connect the USB TO DEVICE WHILE CONTINUING TO HOLD HOME BUTTON
    5) when you see the connect to iTunes screen release home button . If you do not see repeat steps 1-4
6 )now you will see connect to iTunes on your device screen and now your ready to restore
7 ) now select the ipad in iTunes and click on restore
    The end . HUHUHAHA

Did it not restore yet ?

  • Alan Goodwin
    Alan Goodwin Sep 22, 2016

You can force restart as well . If it hasn't restored leave USB connected to iTunes hold the sleep power button home button down same time and continue to hold until you see apple logo , realease the power sleep button while continuing to hold home button until you see this pic . You then can try update .

Well, nothing seems to be working. It initially registered on ITunes and then all of it disappeared. Now I can't get Itunes to recognize the device. And the battery keeps popping up showing no juice on the battery. So now I am thinking it might be a battery problem. It's been plugged in for hours and when trying to hook to Itunes it's plugged into the computer which is plugged into the power outlet.
    Ahhhh, this is so frustrating.

  • Ellie OConnell
    Ellie OConnell Sep 22, 2016

And I did get the message above initially and requested it be restored. Seemed to be loading then disappeared from Itunes. Now all I have is the logo again.

Your on right track it's frustrating at the very least ,.not to worry though you doing great . It will happen . If you wanted to I left you one of my gmail . If you are using i device now I message is much quicker If you decide to write down and I can delete it in a few more minutes . Sounds like you may not have the latest iTunes version wich is easily obtained and iTunes should recognize device time and time again no matter how many times you connect any idevice to the latest iTunes version is 12.4.3.1

    Ellie OConnell Sep 22, 2016

Tried again and think I got it restored. Right in the middle of trying to set up as new ipad when the screen disappeared from Itunes. And now I can't get back there. Will it let me set up directly on ipad. Don't want to touch the ipad unless I know it's ok.

    Alan Goodwin Sep 22, 2016

Are you still connected to computer ?

  • Alan Goodwin
    Alan Goodwin Sep 22, 2016

You should be restored , Ummm Ellie it's ok if it didn't take you can always connect back to computer and go through the routine again . To verify you have the latest iTunes version is 12.5.1 for windows xp simply click on iTunes >versions > update . Then repeat the steps 1-7 again

Disconnect and try to power on iPad .and see . Generally Ellie this process should only take 15 min 20 tops . Iffy that it takes more than 30 mins . Your restoring all settings back to the default factory settings and not restoring through i cloud or a back up which would require more time try to open ipad and see disconnect USB FROM COMPUTER AND IPAD . WHEN YOU DISCONNECT IT SHOULD RESTART ITUNES AGAIN ON P.C.

  • Ellie OConnell
    Ellie OConnell Sep 22, 2016

Finally got it. All restored and set up as a brand new ipad. Yeah!!!! And the battery is actually charging...slowly but charging. Thanks for your help.

  • Alan Goodwin
    Alan Goodwin Sep 22, 2016

Very good then you now have to set up email wifi etc etc . If you ever have any problem opening or any problem for that matter the less is best , meaning start simple in powering off ,then if that doesn't correct ,use the home power button same time , then if that doesn't work go to
settings > general > reset > reset (wherever problem exists
Example network settings , or location privacy etc etc )
then if that doesn't work then
    settings > general >reset >reset all
You are a pro now HUHUHAHAHA sorry you had so much dang trouble ............Best to Ya Ellie ........later A. G.

Depress and Hold your home button and power at same time . This will or should take a few seconds but Keep holding until you see the apple icon . When you see it let off both at same time . After a minute or more it will disappear . After it disappears wait a couple 3,4,5, seconds and you should be able to press the home button and your home page should display .

Perform a hard reset: Press both the Power and Home buttons and hold them down. Keep holding both buttons down until you see the Apple logo appear on the screen. The logo should appear between ten and twenty seconds after you start holding the buttons. After the Apple logo appears, your iPhone or iPad will boot back up normally.
Charge your iPhone: Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
Get iPhone into Recovery Mode: Turn off you iPhone and just plug the USB cable into computer > Hold the HOME button when you connect USB to iPhone > Release the HOME button when you see the iTunes logo.

Rebooting is easy. It is called a hard reboot. Just hold both buttons down until you see a red slider, and then slide it to shut down. It will restart, and you will see the Apple logo.

Why can't I turn my ipad on after rebooting it?

Try this: Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

How do I unfreeze my Apple ipad air ?

It's actually very easy, once you know how to do it. Click and hold down the Sleep/Wake button (located on the upper-right corner of your iPad). While you're holding down the Sleep/Wake button, hold down the Home button as well (located on the front of your iPad at the bottom).
Hold down both buttons until your iPad powers off. It will reboot and start again with a small silver Apple image on the screen. It takes about 30 seconds for the iPad completely start up.

My ipad is stucked.

This tutorial will explain how to force your iPad to restart if it gets stuck or freezes up.
Forcing your iPad to restart will not cause any loss of data - with the possible exception of any work you were doing at the time the iPad and/or App froze, forcing you to restart it.

Ipad has usb chord and itunes logo/ wont start

If the iPad is frozen and can't be restarted the normal way, press and hold the sleep/wake button and the home button together for at least 10 seconds. The red slider may appear and the screen may dim but don't release the 2 buttons until the apple logo appears. If this doesn't work, you will need to backup and restore the iPad.Upgrade to latest version of iTunes, then connect to computer and select it when it appears under devices. If you haven't done a sync do so now.Click summary tab and then restore. If you haven't done a backup you will be prompted to do so.This will backup all settings on iPad..Next click restore and if you have completed all steps, wait until iPad completes the restore and returns to home screen.

Try reseting the iPad by holding the home and power buttons simultaneously until the iPad completely shuts down and the Apple logo appears.

Once the Apple logo appears you can release the buttons. If this does not work, you may need to connect your iPad to your computer and do a factory restore using iTunes.

Ok, sounds like your iPad is frozen. This doesn't happen too often, but does happen occasionally. You need to properly restart your iPad, not just lock and unlock it. Follow these steps:
  1. Hold down the Sleep/Wake button AND the Home button at the same time, for at least 10 seconds
  2. The silver Apple logo will appear on the screen, and your iPad will reboot.
Hope that helps, good luck!
