SOURCE: Playstation 3 Does not display on TV using HDMI or regular video

I posted to your problem with a similar one. I was able to get my PS3 to work by:

1.) Powering down both the PS3 and ViewSonic LCD
2.) Unplugging the power cables to both PS3 and LCD
3.) Waiting at least 10 or more seconds
4.) Plugging in the power cables to both PS3 and LCD
5.) Turning on the ViewSonic LCD
6.) Turning on the PS3 and holding down the power button until the beep

After this sequence I heard the bootup audio and the menu appeared on the screen- which detected the HDMI connection to my LCD.

Very odd.. I've had my PS3 in the same place for months and just today this happened.

I wanted to post my success. Best of luck!

When your notebook computer is connected to an HDMI device, you may encounter certain display and sound issues. For example, if you have your notebook computer connected to an LCD TV and/or surround sound speakers with a high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) cable as part of a home theater system, you may encounter some common HDMI display and/or sound issues such as the following: If you are experiencing one of the following issues, click the link to go directly to a section of this document for a resolution. If you are experiencing an HDMI display or sound issue that is not listed above, please contact HP for assistance. Set HDMI sound output c02654744.gif Make sure that HDMI device is enabled and selected. To make it the default sound playback device, select ATI HDMI Output and then select Properties . The HDMI cable must be connected when it is configured. Use correct HDMI cable for your HDMI device There are three types of HDMI: 19-pin (normal head), 19-pin (small head), and 29-pin. If your computer and HDMI device use different cable types, adapters are available. For more information, see HP Notebook PCs - Overview of HDMI and DVI Connections for PCs . If you do not see HDMI Output then you may need to reinstall or update your audio drivers. Also, make sure your notebook's BIOS is up-to-date. When using WinDVD to play a movie after selecting HDMI as the default audio output, the surround sound option may be unavailable. To resolve this issue, please update to WinDVD version 9.0 or later at the HP Software & Driver downloads page . If you are using the MediaSmart program, make sure you are using the latest version. I get this error when I try to play a DVD on my laptop using WDVD

I assume that you are using a TV with the Computer to watch a Blu-Ray disc using HDMI connection.

In order to play a Blu-ray Disc (BD) movie on a television, the display configuration must be set to display on the television only. Having the image set to display on the computer and the television at the same time will generate the above STOP error message "Your display environment does not support protected content playback message".

Follow this procedure to properly configure the settings
needed to play a Blu-ray Disc (BD) movie on a television.

1. Connect the Computer to the TV using an HDMI cable.

2. On the Computer, click the Start -> Control Panel -> Appearance and Personalization -> Adjust screen resolution.

3. In the Display Settings window, click the Advanced Settings button -> Intel Graphics Media Accelerator tab -> Graphics Properties button.

4. In the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator window, under Operating Mode, click the down arrow and then click to select Single Display.

5. Under Primary Device click the down arrow and then click to select Digital Television, and then OK.

6. At the Confirm the Desktop Change prompt, click the OK.

7. In the Advanced Settings window, click the OK button.

8. In the Display Settings window, click the OK button.

9. In the Control Panel window, click Hardware and Sound.

10. In the Hardware and Sound window, under Sound, click Manage audio devices.

11.In the Sound window, click to select HDMI Device, and then click the Set Default button.

12. In the Sound window, click the OK button.

13. Now close the Control Panel window.

NOTE: Also check for any update for the software you are using to play the videos and update for the Video Driver

Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!

Hi,

This is a security feature of the High Definition Content that it does not allow veiwing of any high def content on dual displays.

There is a very simple fix to it...
Go to Nvidia control panel..
Select setup multiple displays..
Choose the option Single display ( one display at a time ).

Thats it.. This should enable you to play the blue ray dvds on the external display.

Playstation 3 Does not display on TV using HDMI or regular video

This happened to me a few years back so I apologize if it's not 100% accurate. If you can get it to work on another TV, go ahead and connect it to that, and go in to the settings to select the video input. If it's connected through an HDMI cable, then it will probably be set to HDMI. Change the input here to whatever cable you used in the living room. You will have to power it off at this stage, but when you connect to the other TV it should work.
