Question about Panasonic Lumix DMC-SZ8 16 Megapixel Compact Camera - Silver 7.6 cm 3" LCD - 12x Optical Zoom - Optical IS - 4608 x 3456 Image - 1280 x 720 Video - PictBridge - HD Movie Mode
Up to a week ago the camera was working fine, but upon trying to upload pictures to google pgotos the camera wasn't recognised even after going into settings and trying to find a new device. Since then, upon switcjing the camera on I'm getting a USB screen that asks me to either use PICT BRIDGE or PC using the usb lead. I can't get past this page to use the camera. I have managed to get to the 'spanner' symbol to reset the camera but have had no success. I've been told I may have to do a ;hard reset', but would like to know if it's something I can do myself.
Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.

SOURCE: camera not recognised by pc
I have found a solution download and run this fix from Microsoft. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=c680a7b6-e8fa-45c4-a171-1b389cfacdad&DisplayLang=en
You have to log off then back on....this has worked for me my two cameras are now offering the transfer wizard once more.
Also see here....
If you have no joy with the Microsoft fix

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.
