What voltage and current do i need for a diskgo! edge model hd-d1-u2 USB disk drive?

Also ensure the current rating is the same or slightly higher

Eg 500 mA

Do not use one with a lower current rating as this can cause problems.

Your question is not understandable, If your hard disk has crashed, only professional data recovery services may help you out.
Make sure you go to DiskGO and get the new update for your drive, I some cases your hard drive needs updates to be recognized by your system

When I plug my HD in, the blue light comes on, but the motor isnt running.

Have you plugged in the AC power adapter? The blue light means it is connected to the computer but USB power is not enough to operate this drive.

Drive is plug in to the usb laptop drive port and don't see a new drive letter

If you are using Windows, go to Control Panel, select
Admin Tools, then Computer management. Now select Disk Management and wait for the display to populate.
There will be your new drive. It will need initializing and then formatting before you can use it.

Write protection

Write protection means you can view the information stored in it but you can't write and transfer the information to it.
For removing the write protection follow the below mentioned steps:
1. Right click on the USB stick
2. Go to properties and uncheck the read only or write only protection option.

I have a DiskGo! edge external model number HD-D2-U2 and i can't get my windows seven pc to see it. i am also unable to get it to format it so i can see it any ideas?

1. Check for possible damaged USB cable.
2. defective USB electronics
3. new USB case needed
4. can be purchased online
5.Check for Possible damage USB PORT. Try another port.

This was bought from a friend who no longer has the manual and I am still not quite sure what it is or what it does.

The problem that you having was the enclosure of your Hardisk and the need to exchange it. I suggest to you if ever that is under warranty sentit back to your reseller or take the disc out and buy another enclosure for you to be able to get all your files.
