Choosing an air purifier is a daunting task, especially if it's your first. Many buyers are disappointed when the product chosen does not seem to solve their particular problem. Filters are essential in keeping fungal spores, microbes, aerosols and any air pollutants out of your household. Check out air purifier with washable filter and which is HEPA certified.

If it is an air IONIZER type air cleaner, it may need cleaning itself. Pick up a can of dry air spray for computer keyboards. It's about $4.00 U.S. at Walmart. BE SURE to unplug the unit before spraying it and DO NOT turn the spray can upside down and spray it. You should also let the unit air out for 30 minutes before plugging it back in. This "spray air" used to be R-12 chlorofluorocarbon "Freon" refrigerant before they found that it destroyed the ozone layer. Freon was not flammable and almost indestructible. Now, they use Hydroflourocarbon R-134a refrigerant which is very flammable and ionizer type air cleaners can produce electric sparks during normal operation due to their high internal air ionizing voltages. Also, in either case, if you turn the can upside down and spray it, you will be venting liquid which comes out at sub zero C or F temperatures and can freeze and crack plastic parts or iron ferrite coil cores. good luck.
