Heating & Cooling - Recent Questions, Troubleshooting & Support

This could be several things. There is a contactor on the outside unit that closes and turns on the compressor. If this fails then no action takes place moving the fluid. There is a start and run capacitor that aids the compressor, if this goes bad then the compressor wont start. Loss of fluid will cause this issue also.

Is it working? Perhaps an electronic malfunction. I would say the safe bet is to have it looked at by an HVAC professional.

The little flame on the thermostat only means that the thermostat is calling for heating. You need to go to the unit and make sure it has power. If it does, check the fuse on the control board. If that is OK, you'll need to put tape on the door switch to operate it with the door open. After you tape the switch closed, go to your thermostat and call for heating. If it doesn't start, count how many blinks you have on the control board and cross reference it to your fault code list on the door that you took off. Post back and let me know what you find out and we can go from there.

Why are you unable to use the pilot? I suspect you need a new thermocouple since the pilot won't stay lit.

You should have this taken care of by a professional HVAC service tech. The little bang you are hearing is a flame out of the burner followed by continued flow of fuel and then a reignition of the burner, and this can have catastrophic consequence. Your furnace will either gas you or it will explode if enough gas builds up in the combustion chamber.

A competent Honeywell tech could have identified the inducer controller as the problem. In some furnaces, the inducer controller is a separate "box", not part of a board.

Inadequate cooling is usually due to a loss of freon refrigerant or a failing compressor. These are not something you can fix yourself and my experience has been that air conditioning/appliance repair shops won't repair portable ac units, but you can check around your neighborhood. Unfortunately, the only practical solution may be to replace it. Hope that helps.
