Televison & Video - Recent Questions, Troubleshooting & Support

This may sound redundant but, did you check out the onscreen munu, and go to " troubleshooting " ? If that doesn't help call the manufacturer of the TV.

Hello, Illie -

If the Magnavox converter box was provided through a cable or satellite dish TV services provider, then contact that organization and ask for a replacement remote control. You will probably need to provide the Customer Service Representative your customer ID number and possibly some other identifying information, including the model number on the converter box.

If the converter box is one you purchased yourself, then you may find a remote control which works for it by conducting a search using your favorite search engine (Google, Bing, Yahoo, DuckDuckGo, etc.) and the following search strategy, using quotation marks as shown:

You may be able to purchase a universal remote which can be programmed to work with your converter box.

Best wishes.

Hello, AE - Are you asking how to make the picture on your TV smaller ("shrink it")? If so, without knowing the make and model of your particular TV, I can only give you general instructions. You will need the remote control which came with your TV (not a remote control for cable or satellite dish TV service.) Turn the TV ON. With the remote control, press the MENU button. One of the MENU choices which displays on the TV screen should be SETTINGS or SCREEN RESOLUTION. Choose that. You will be provided a list of screen image sizes. Move through each option to determine which size you prefer. Once you have landed on the screen aspect ratio (another term for picture size) you prefer, press the OK button on the remote control. Choose to keep the chosen setting and EXIT or ESCAPE the MENU options. Best wishes.

Had the same problem, took my Pacifica to the dealer where they diagnosed an internal mechanical malfuntion. They said the only way to fix it is to rebuild the unit. Luckily I bought the 7 year 100 thousand mile warranty and didn't have to pay the estimated $700.00 parts and labor charge. It is fixed and works just fine.
