Yes you can't drive it with the seat out. The air bag light will stay on and the air bags will be inoperative. Once you reinstall the seat everything should go back to normal.

See below or get your local dealership to come out with their Scanner.

Tip & How-To about Cars & Trucks
Resetting a Vehicle Anti-Theft System
This is how you reset an anti theft system if you have the anti-theft light on, or your car is cranking, but you have no spark.

Doing a full reset of the anti-theft system.

Disconnect both battery leads for at least two hours.
Hold the negative and positive leads together for 5 minutes to fully discharge any power.
Put the key in the ignition, but not turned on. VERY IMPORTANT!
Connect the positive lead.
Connect the negative lead in one swift movement.
Wait 15 minutes for the system to fully reset.

Tow/haul mode enables the operator to achieve enhanced shift performance when towing or hauling a load. When tow/haul mode is selected, the tow/haul switch input signal to the body control module (BCM) is momentarily toggled to zero volts. This signals the powertrain control module (PCM) to extend the length of time between upshifts and increase transmission line pressure. Cycling the tow/haul switch again disables tow/haul mode and returns the transmission to a normal shift pattern.

Would't trust it , take an have DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes checked by a qualified repair shop with a factory or professional scan tool . Auto part stores can not check BCM code's .

I'm not familiar with Chevrolet vehicles, being from Europe and all, but most engines today have none adjustable tappets. From what limited knowledge I have on cars in general, most cars have there tappets set according to timings and if there is wear on the timing chain (if it has one) then you would realistically be looking to change that, along with any guides and tensioner's. This is also the same for timing belts too. You may also find abnormal wear on the lifters. 100,000 miles is generally considered the point upon which a timing system needs an overhaul.

If you could post more information on what is wrong with the vehicle and its symptoms, we may be able to help further.

If the engine mixture is correct and the engine does not misfire, I would leave it until around 100k Miles. Spark plugs tend to last a lot longer than years ago.
