if your vacuum motor overheats, it will stop working. it will start working again once it cools.

usually if a connection gets hot enough to start melting it is usually a loose connection or high current. more than likely the switch is bad if you replace it with the same type of switch and it gets hot check the motor. make sure it is clean and isn't jammed

Hi there. Most suction problems are due to a blockage. Start with the base and look carefully for debris that is stopping air flow. You may have to remove the base plate to get to the problem. I am including a link to the manual for your machine. look on page four so see how to remove the base and check for blocked airways. http://www.eureka.com/service/manuals/75287_eng.pdf
