To be able to play movies stored on a USB device (it doesn´t matter if it's a usb pen, a usb hard drive, etc), you will need two things:

1.- The device where you want to play the movies must support the USB device that you're using (not all USBs are the same, and they can be formatted differently, too). So if when you plug it in, the TV doesn´t recognize it, use a different USB device.

2.- The movies that you put on the USB device must be palyable by your device. ie: your TV, BluRay, etc must be able to decode and play the movie format, and this can be AVI, DIVX, XVID, H624, QT, MKV, etc. Even if your device reproduces DIVX movies, if the movie is encoded in a weird format, it won't be playable. The fastest way to know is trial and error.

You do need to select the output device before you can copy files, this will be the USB port and the hard drive n it.
Then you can copy files as a copy button appears on the files menu.

great question , and I have one. (used for special purpose not as a PC at all, , my secret)
well it only has 1 hdd,
so is the boot drive.
and if you format it , the OS is now dead and gone.
so formatting booting it , in the OS is like is like deleting a bicycle while peddling down hill (close Eyes and imagine that)

what the real question is or was or not stated is
how to install windows on this very tiny toy PC?"nano sized)

sure boot the install media, and delete the partitions on the setup page, and then install fresh this unstated OS.

some versions of windows, if in fact it is windows, ? Is it?
(win10 install media , for example)
it will not allow you to do that, booted to media not erased before hand , in this case I use free killdisk.exe (google it) a free APP.
and erase the HDD , then I run smart tests on it ,or look silly when the OS fails to run on any BAD or WEAK HDD.

how to repurpose any old HDd.
we run smart tests on it first. (ask) I use Linux demo media free)
then we erase it with killdisk. (1pass of 0s is good enough)
it is now good to go. (use or sell)
w7 is pretty much max for any EEE BOX. but steps are the same.
but MS does not offer w7 for sale now, nor support it. now.

the terse message from CELL phone that it.
asking about complex computer issues.?

P/S = means? what. please or power system.
external Hdd, ,there are so many none stated. at all.
USB is 5vdc and currents can be tool on many PCs and notebooks. no PC stated at all , no HDD ext stated.
good external drives over 500mA drain have a POWER PACK

if not will not run on many laptops etc.

Some HDD need 2 amps to run other 1amp other 500 or as low as 200mA, to run, vast HDD exist and the rules are not the same for every one or maker or model.

personally I use External enclosures that have AC pack. 2.5amps
and will work on ANYTHING made, any PC of any kind and even my TV, The HDD has motor and if the startup current is over what you USB port can deliver (some are 100ma max) then it fails.
and fails hard, even damage the HDD heads.
see the first chart here.

if the PC only does 100mA, you are doomed, see why?

NO NAS stated or model at all. so no exact answers possible at all. no HDD maker.

we have no idea what you are talking about in computer repairs

what PC, fails, or PC device, none stated, at all.

impossible answers or wrong await you.
dim screens, are cause by 2 things, or more.

if the battery is weak the OS detects that (no OS stated)
and dims the display on purpose. or a bad battery too.

or is turned down in brightness controls.
if a PC is older than 2010 , the CCLF lamps go dim (means bad)

on cheap toys recharging takes a long time, did you read the manual on how to do that first>? and how long it takes.

what stopped working, the heli, the charger or both.
test the battery yet?
crashing any toy flying machine is big risk to it,
things (vast) inside CRACK or get loose, inspections inside can work, did you.... best is to buy 2 and when one dies ,swap part to learn what Actually died.
