I had the same problem and after staying on the phone for an hour with a lady in another country who didnt know what she was talking about i figured it out. The printhead was blocked and the auto clean couldnt clean it so There is a lever at the side of holder for the ink cartidge. if u pull it up it will release the holder. I removed all the cartidges, took the holder out and washed it with in the kitchen sink. turned my pipe on spray. dried it with my hair dryer on low. Poped it back in and it worked.

Try reconnecting a control panel. In the video below, we show how to fix the control panel, there you will see where the ribbon cord needs to be reconnected. Also, check the logic board connection if this doesn't work.

Lcd is not a replaceable part.
try these steps to resolve problem
- unplug the power cord from the back of the printer while it's turned on - wait for a minute before you plug it back in - if it does not solve the problem - unplug power cord from the back again while machine is turned on -wait for a minute, push pound key and 3 while plugging power cord back in -lastly,if the first two do not solve the problem - try pound key and number 6 same path above -if issue still exists, printer needs to be replaced

This should be a good guide through fixing the screen. You will need a star shaped t10 and t8 screwdriver tip and a heat gun or hair fan with heat setting:

You can replace the print heads in the printer itself.
I know that you can order them from HP's website, or eBay for that matter.
http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=K550dtn+print+head&_sacat=0&_odkw=K550dtn&_osacat=0&_trksid=p3286.c0.m270.l1313

They are running around $120 on eBay, so they are most likely a lot more on HP's site.
Unless you paid an arm and a leg for this printer or if it has sentimental value, it's time to replace it.

Hi,
According to one of the posts on HP forum:

"Go into printer properties and make sure Paper type is not set to an HP brand. Voila."

Good luck,

The Officejet 8710 printer can face paper mismatch issues if the paper settings are not set properly in the Print Preview box.
Try setting the Paper Type option to Plain in the settings window that appears before performing the print.
Change the settings to 8.5 x 11 in both the copier and the printer setting.
There can also be an issue with the paper tray.
Set the paper width guides correctly.
Try printing a Configuration report to determine which paper size the printer is configured to.

Any bits of paper stuck inside the printer roller might also cause paper feeding errors.
Open the cartridge access door of your HP Officejet Pro printer.
Wait for the ink cartridges to a position on the left.
Look for any pieces of paper inside the cartridge area.
If any bits are found, remove them. That should solve your problem.

Someone pulled hard on jammed paper to remove it from the printer. This has broken the small plastic paper advancing gear on the left-hand side of the printer (have seen this mistake a number of times). The printer is broken and cannot be fixed, and it is time to purchase a new one. What you and everyone needs to learn from this is to NEVER pull hard to remove paper out of your printer. Be careful, and open the access doors to get to it.

We would suggest that you upgrade to an HP 8600 series printer and if you print more than 500 pages per month you purchase an AdaptiveInk continuous ink supply system (CISS). Adaptive Ink Continuous Ink Supply System Home Page Adaptive Ink HP Pigment ERC

Unplug
Wait 20 secs
Plug it back in while holding 6 and #
Continue to hold until a reset notification pops up (this may take a while).
The error may pop up again, just unplug and plug back in and you should be good.
