This is caused by air leaking past the seal in the shut door. Push in on the paddle and release and watch the door shut close. It should make an air tight seal. You can also shine a flashlight in the shut and look at the opposite side to look for light.

Check these things.
Is the fan running in the freezer?
It should be running when the refrigerator is running.
Is there ice or frost on the back wall inside the freezer?
It should have none. If iced up your air flow is being blocked to the refrigerator section. Something is wrong with the defrost system.
Are your controls for the freezer set in the middle of the dial?
If its all the way up as cold as it can go you are actually slowing the airflow to the refrigerator. It should be in the middle. The refrigerator control can be set higher.
Is the fan under the refrigerator running when the compressor is on?
If not you may have a bad condenser motor.
You mentioned a noise when the unit shuts off, if its the fan by the compressor clear whatever is hitting the blade. If it in the compressor it is not repairable without replacing the compressor. However it should not affect the cooling of the refrigerator. The banging noise is caused by a broken suspension spring inside the compressor. so when it shuts off the compressor bangs against the housing. By the way your refrigerator was built by GE for Sears Kenmore

open the freezer door and empty the shelves look at the bottom of the panel in the freezer where the air holes are if it frozen or iced up. thats your problem your air flow is blocked with ice. other possibility would be a fan failure.

If you've been using it for awhile it'll most likely be what's called 'scaling' or calcium/magnesium deposits...which means you have what is called 'hard' water with a high mineral content.
Water softeners will help reduce this issue.

The bulb cover should just snap in place. Use a butter knife or putty knife to slide in at the edge and pop it out.
