As far as I know, the engines are basically identical on the outside. The problem with engine swapping on these computer-controlled cars is, you also have to change the computer since each engine has a computer programmed for that particular engine. This often requires not only changing the computer but also changing wiring harnesses to match. In short, the engines will most likely swap but it is the computer that makes the difference.

If you changed the switch you will have to go to the dealer and get the key coded. Ignition keys are coded to the specific computer and the key has to come from the dealer who knows the codes. This is what I had to do on my Camero. If this does not help call your Chevy dealer and ask them if they can code the right key.

One bit of important information that isn't there is the recommended OCV (open circuit voltage) when welding with AC, which is minimum 70 volts. If possible welding with DC is preferable as there is less spatter, the arc is smoother and polarity can be changed to reduce/increase the heat in the workpiece.
