I have a 2012 Polaris sportsman 800 EFI. It is very stiff and hard to move to and gear Neutral, High, Low and Park. Its very stiff and hard to shift to all of them. Its hard when its off and when its running there is no change either way. I don't know what the problem is.

your shift linkage could be out of adjustment. the two rods that run to your transmission. try disconnecting one and see if it shift *(without the engine running), then do the same thing for the other. if it shift into high without the low gear shift linkage disconnected, then they are out of adjustment.
Jun 28, 2010 - my 06 500 efi creeps and sometime is a little hard to shift. the dealer told me ... inline. if its off a little when you are stopped and trying to shift the tranny has... 2013 RZR XP 900 .... shop, for first service and to put in a new belt, blew up the firstone already. ... what makes a polaris crew hard to change gears.

If you have a primary and secondary clutch, and your ATV still fails to move with proof that they are working, my best advice would be to check the pilot shaft and the gears for excessive wear. Even in new products, the case of excessive wear can be well known, and it would be wise to take it back to the dealer if you continue to have the problem.
sounds like the connecting rod on the crankshaft.
i would inspect the primary clutch first before an engine teardown. Sometimes the engine shifts on the engine mounts and the clutch hits the cover, also check to make sure belt is not slapping around in cover.
remember on early models there was a safety pin that had to be held to switch to reverse,,,your 500 does this automatically so check for safety pin hookup. Could be brush or
grass jammed in where it moves.
