I have a yamaha timberwolf unk year. i think it is a 94. anyway it has electric start and reverse. it is a 250cc. i have tried to start this thing with the electric start button and nothing happens. if i jump the selinoid the engine turns over but doesnt run. i am sure the engine whips over. the starter gear is engaging. but it just turns and turns and turns. if i plain out push start this thing it will fire up. it has good compression because i have to pick up the *** end and drop it to start it, in 4th gear. if i give the 4 wheeler a little push while the elec start is whiping the motor it also fires up. as you can see i have a delima. please help me fix my baby.
15 years late..but buy a 30 dollar compression tester and find your valve time has slipped due to shorn key on sprocket. My son just diagnosed his with exactly same scenario.
You have a loose connection to the ignition system . When cranking make sure it is in neutral. and kill switch is in run position. The only thing dropping would sensibly affect is the fuel system or jarring a switch., but with the suspension you have there really is no jarring. So, I would ck the wiring. something is loose.
If you push it starts.....cranks like a wiz..... Starter is canceling the ignition somehow. There is a starter relay. Is this like a car ignition switch ? Key does all?. If so, and it sounds like it, there is no current going to the coil when cranking. but there is current in run position. Yopu say you have check for fuse burn out? Well, that wouldn't be affected by dropping. My friend. It has to be a wire is off or your ignition switch or at the ignition switch..I think it is your ihnition switch because when you crank it is also supposed to provide current to the coil.by bridging over to the run position.. It has to be the switch, no doubt. Where are you located? I'm in CA
you push the start/crank button and nothing happens. I would bet you yhe key switch is NOTproviding vurrent to the button. Jummping the selonoid and running tells you the problem is before theelonoid/relay. Power to key switch, then key on power to sraer button, then start button to selonoid. Ch.k power in that path button provides power at the post(small) yhat you are crossing to the battery cable. on the soelonoid. Key switch still my target. If you put juice to the key sideof the button and then push the button it will crank and start. Well, it should.
No, it will start.
