I had this problem with Artic Cat 500 and after ensuring the electric shift was working I discovered the mounts for the front drive shaft had broken and would not allow the shaft to engage. I suspect mine was caused by plowing but any number of things could break or bend these.

500 sportman Polaris runs good when cold when hot it cutout
Sounds like it is running lean. Adjust the air fuel mixture. If that does not help, may need to do some carb work.

2013 polairs sportmans 550 touring drive shaft front won,t slide off front rear roll pin out P B blaster 3 days inrow hit it afaird to damage F rear bearing to close to seals for heat ?
if seal too close for heat the you will have to you a real good drill bit cobalt grade and drill it out take your time when doing it
