CHECK VALVE CLEARANCES(INTAKES MOSTY) IS IT ONLY HARD TO START AFTER IT HAS BEEN RUNNING(HOT) OR IS IT HARD TO START COLD TOO?
SOURCE: I have a 2007 Yamaha Grizzly 660. It was running
It sounds like you got some corrosion going on, on the ground side. I would start with the battery cables first and see if they need cleaned up, then go to the connectors and unplug them and clean if necessary and put die-electrical grease in the sockets of the connectors before plugging them back in. I am assuming that the shifter is electrically assisted if there are problems going on with it as well...this is what makes me believe that it is a bad ground due to setting maybe in a damp inviroment.

I have an 01, and it started doing this. I don't remember the circumstances. It's just dirty in the carb I think.
1) Check for water in the gas.
2) Turn off the petcock and drain the carb. turn it back on.
3) Try it.
4) Start it with the choke on and put your hand over the air filter hole. Will cause some back flow.
5) Try again.
Worked for me. Might be dirtier on yours, or have mud in it or something.

Check the starter motor on the bench clamped in a vice ,you may have sluggish or worn brushes .

Unless an aftermarket device has been installed on your bike, you must take it to a dealer to get the fuel map reworked.
