My 02 Polaris 325 Magnum starts and runs, but when u give it gas it misses and backfires and won't rev up. Did this before when engine would get hot, now is worse, what could cause this?

The spark plug is on the left side (shifter) of the head,,..?/ this is August.. if the atv has been sitting the carb may need a qualified professional to clean it again.. Replace the spark plug before you squirt anything in the engine...
