Well not knowing the model or year of mfg , ill assume its one with fuel injection , the mAP Sensor is the device that controls this function , they do sometimes get clogged up and require a good cleanout with some Map sensor spray (don't use brakeclean!!!) unless you want to buy a new one (sensor that is not atv) but even that's only gonna get you too about ten thousand feet , any higher than that your gonna need custom software to get it to run ok

In the system along with the MAP sensor there is a barometric pressure sensor (BARO) that adjusts the setting for altitude differences

2008 Sportsman. Why is it running rough?

The 20 Amp fuse (diagram shows only one 20A) feeds ignition coil and fuel pump circuits. With a current probe measure the two circuits separately to identify which is most probable cause.

Check battery voltage with engine running. It should be well over 13 VDC.

If it will run for a few minutes, you might get by with a touch test of the ignition coil and fuel pump. If one is markedly hot, the heat likely identifies the culprit. But a current probe is the tool necessary if you want to avoid part$ swapping.

Recommend fuel pressure check also. Eccessively high pressure could be problematic and low pressure would further implicate fuel pump.

2015 Polaris 900 won't start. Was starting with fast idle, rough running with backfires, now won't start at all. Was running perfect.

fast idle start usually indicates an air leak somewhere.check carburettor bolts are tight and engine head bolts are tight.try that first
