Well not knowing the model or year of mfg , ill assume its one with fuel injection , the mAP Sensor is the device that controls this function , they do sometimes get clogged up and require a good cleanout with some Map sensor spray (don't use brakeclean!!!) unless you want to buy a new one (sensor that is not atv) but even that's only gonna get you too about ten thousand feet , any higher than that your gonna need custom software to get it to run ok
In the system along with the MAP sensor there is a barometric pressure sensor (BARO) that adjusts the setting for altitude differences
run the fault codes and find the problem area
