you are going to have to obtain an engine manual to show you how to remove the balancer cover the balancer usually is located on the left side of the engine it will have timing marks on the side of the case and a timing mark on the balancer note I would check the valve lash and see if it is adjustable b4 messing with the timing. your valve lash could be out severely and all you will need to do is adjust it

I take help from online websites that have this service like helping in repair some like reliable-store have instant help.. others are a bit slow which I don't prefer... rest is up to u.. U can also get free manual works fine .

There is a trouble shooting procedure for the ECT, Temp sensor. There are different resistance reading for different temps.

Tony, sounds like a transfer case issue, have machine checked or scanned for error codes.
