Hey Judy,
Will it go into neutral after you move it forward or backward a little? Sometimes the transmissions in a motorcycle/ATV will be very hard to get into neutral,,, the dogs on the transmission gears are undercut a tiny amount to keep the gears engaged under power. Try this and reply to me.

Check that you have a spark .
The gap may be lost on the flywheel

There are sub models but here is the Service Manual, test the switch, and also look for starter relay and test. There are more free manuals at the bottom of the page.

2010 honda rancher battery will not charge when cables are hooked up it starts when cables are removed it dies

Hi Donnie,
Start with the basics, Good electrical connections, good grounds, good fuses (test them! they can look good but still be bad) then start looking at the circuit for the shifter. If you can't find a schematic then you may have to take some stuff apart to get to the electrical end of things. Check the switch for the shifter.. If you need some more let me know

Look for broken wires on bottem right side of engine on park /neutral safety switch wires pulled off or broke

89 honda fourtrax will shift thru gears but does not go anywhere and cant even push but then u can put it into neutral n then u can push it , and also it acts like its in gear wen in neutral and u try

belt drive or chain drive? belt loose, chain shear pin bad ? gears stripped? several reasons here ! hard to say w/o more info sorry!
