Why does my vehicle die when battery cable's are removed but has good battery
If your vehicle dies when the battery cables are removed despite having a good battery, it could be a problem with your alternator. The alternator is responsible for charging the battery while the engine is running. If the alternator is faulty or not functioning properly, the battery might not be getting charged, and the vehicle will rely solely on the battery's power. When you disconnect the battery cables, the vehicle loses its power source and can no longer operate. Alternatively, there could be a problem with the electrical system or wiring in the vehicle. Issues such as corroded battery terminals, loose connections, or a faulty ignition switch can also cause similar symptoms. It is essential to have the vehicle inspected by a qualified mechanic to diagnose and address the underlying issue. They can perform tests on the battery, alternator, and electrical system to determine the cause of the problem and recommend the necessary repairs.

2008 Astra sticks in 4th gear why?
There could be several reasons why a 2008 Astra may become stuck in 4th gear. Here are a few potential causes:
1. Transmission issues: A problem with the transmission itself, such as a damaged gear or a malfunctioning shift solenoid, can cause the vehicle to remain stuck in a particular gear.
2. Clutch problems: If there is a problem with the clutch system, such as a worn clutch disc or a faulty release bearing, it can prevent proper gear engagement and cause the vehicle to stay in 4th gear.
3. Shift linkage or cables: Issues with the shift linkage or cables that connect the gear shift lever to the transmission can result in difficulty changing gears, including becoming stuck in 4th gear.
4. Hydraulic issues: Problems with the hydraulic system, such as low fluid levels, leaks, or a malfunctioning clutch master or slave cylinder, can affect the proper operation of the clutch and transmission, potentially causing gear-related issues.
It is important to have a qualified mechanic inspect and diagnose the specific cause of the problem. They can perform a detailed diagnostic procedure, check for error codes in the vehicle's computer system, and conduct necessary tests to identify and resolve the issue with the 4th gear sticking.

Does the engine turn at a normal starting speed? If it does, the battery and wiring are not the problem. Does it take a long time to start? Does it start, then die right away? Please describe as well as you can what happens. If you can smell unburned fuel in the exhaust right after starting, note that as well, including whether the smell goes away shortly or persists until the engine is warmed up.
================================================
If the engine is spinning as fast as normal, it won't be the battery or the starter. Your issue will be electronics or sensors. That can be diagnosed in 30 minutes with a professional grade scan tool computer
Your vehicle only needs 3 things to run
A supply of clean fuel
A spark at the right time.
Compression.
