Why does catera starts and runs great than other times won't even turn over and we have to jump. checked alternator-good battery-good ?

Check that all your ground wires are well attached and attaching points are clean and free of corrosion. Also check for parasitic drains such as an underhood light, trunk light, map light, floor lights, something plugged into dc outlet like a cell phone charger left plugged in, etc. is not draining your battery overnight or over time when parked.

My 2001 catera shuts off randomly even on high way speed and when that happense the "s" light starts blinking

The engine and the automatic transmission (transmission control is only for automatics, engine is still computer controlled no matter the transmission type) in this vehicle are computer controlled and in most cases when a fault occurs a fault code is stored in the memory of the computer control module. There are exception to this, such as the Mass Airflow Meter and fuel pressure problems. What must be done is to have all the basic testing done such as a scan of the system for fault codes as well as a check with a live data scanner tool for engine functions that are not within range of normal, a trained technician is required to know what is correct and what isn't, then based on careful diagnostics done from a factory repair manual the correct part is replaced or the wiring repaired or the computer replaced (known as the PCM), which is very rarely the problem. Other basic checks must be done as well such as mechanical problems with the engine as well as engine state of tune and mileage on the engine. The transmission can have mechanical issues as well such as no gear engagement at all or a failed pump or other pressure related problems.

When it rains puddles of

I agree but just wanting you to understand a little better... If you park under trees with leaves or pine straw that's what it is...It's around your windshield arm openings.. Leaves and pine straw will fall into the holes and clog up small drain hole intended to drain water from when it rains. leaves and pine straw enters the space it clogs up a little rubber drain hose. Water starts to fill up the area and when it gets high enough it will soak through the paper filter and fall on the floor to the passenger side floor board. Take the vent cover off around the windshield wipers.. usually plastic..After you have them off you will see the paper filter down in the area...The water is not draining properly and water is going through that filter and falling onto the passenger side floorboard. Try to get as much Leaves or pine straw out. Then a long skinny screw driver or wire and push it down..It will fall down under your car..You can find the little rubber hose under the car and Push up...But make sure it's clear...Pour some water in there and make sure it's draining before putting back together...also make sure that air filter is ok also...That's where your heater and AC air comes in at...

I have a 2001 Cadillac Catera that the oil light

It may just be a bad sensor. The pressure could be tested with a mechanical gauge, but the sensor is probably so cheap it's not worth paying a shop to do a diagnostic if you can replace the sensor yourself. If it's not a bad sensor the oil pump may be worn out, or maybe the engine bearings are worn. A thicker oil might buy you some time on it. My 2001 catera shuts off at random and the "s" light starts blinking?

The 'S' you discribe must surely be the Sport Mode on light, which is turned on and off by the button on top of the shift lever. Must likely problems with a battery issue like that would probably be an alternator problem, or simply a poor electrical connection. Your best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop .
