If the rear lights go on when you turn the switch on then it is not the switch...so hunt down the fuse/relay box. As I recall on the Type S there is a relay/fuse box inside the hood on the passenger side firewall which has the headlights. Open the door there should be screws or bolts one under guard on the chassis and under edge of bonnet and head light ,may have to remove the light to get to the bolts. .

If the engine will not crank over, then have the battery and connections checked. If it will not turn over using jumper cables then there is a starter system problem.
